am i the only one who thought they gave us some credit saturday night? there have been many occasions this season where they've completely glossed over a city win but this time they said how well we were doing and still people moan about it.

they gave us some credit and moved on. it wasn't one of the biggest matches of the day so i'm not sure what people expect! the programme is not solely about us...

I think the fact we have already established ourselves as a worthy Premiership team means that when we win it's not seen as an upset already and therefore not a big story so we seem to have become part of the furniture which is a huge testament to the way we have hit the ground running.

I also don't know why people have such a problem with Colin Murray, I know loads of people who cannot stand him and rate him as the most annoying of all, but I actually think he's really good and I like him personally - milion times better than most of the other names I've seen mentioned on this thread. Sky aren't perfect either, as much as I love him Kammy kept calling Surman 'Alan' yesterday on Goals on Sunday <doh>

We did get an,albeit brief mention on MOTD. It was West Brom who got almost completely ignored this time. As for MOTD2, I thought Jake Humphrey did a good job last night (although he's slightly biased).

my problem with MOTD is the hierarchical nature of the programme, it would be nice if for 25% of episodes the sequence of matches shown was randomly determined, or some such algorithm, so at least there was a little more equity. An hour was spent on the first three matches and they say the same things about those teams repeatedly and the focus was on utd, not Bolton etc. I don't want to know anymore about them. An acknowledgement that there are 20 teams in the league and I imagine the majority of supporters don't want to watch utd beat Bolton, the goals would be more than enough. I'm sure Bolton fans would say the same thing.

lonsight, it's simply about viewing figures, nothing more to it than that, however the BBC try to dress it up. "The top games" just means "the games involving teams with the biggest support". If two of those happen to be playing each other, well the BBC is in dreamland!

I know, I'm just being an idealist I guess, but it seems to me that lots of people don't switch on because of the bias and the ****e pundits.

Well, that's a bit cynical to say - otherwise they wouldn't bother choosing the running order after the matches, it would be pre-determined. Unless your suggesting this is a conspiracy anyway.

Yes, I am cynical. Look at last Saturday's running order: from memory 1--4 (not sure of exact order) Spurs v Wolves; Chelsea v Sunderland; Man Utd v Bolton; Liverpool v Stoke (i.e. each featuring a "big" club). Then the "also rans" depending on their view of entertainment value (e.g. number of goals). Only explanation as far as I can see is indeed viewing figures/support.

personally, i think motd generally show the game with the most action in it as the main game, unless there is a big, big, top of the table clash or 6-pointer relegation battle taking place. its naive to think they only show the big clubs first because they don't. i read on twitter some city fans moaning on saturday because we were only on 5th out of 7th but in all seriousness, who, other than norwich fans, thought that that match was a big game? they put it 5th because that was the 5th most interesting match that day. there isn't a conspiracy!! there are bigger matches to show some weeks, most weeks in fact

liverpool v stoke was on last! indeed, liverpool have been on last many times this season cos they keep drawing 0-0

everton and aston villa are a big clubs, they are almost always on last. why? because they hardly ever have an entertaining match <ok>

That's my point Superman: basically fans think their own club's game is the most interesting, so "the MOST most interesting" means "with the greatest number of fans (i.e. the greatest number who think its the most interesting)". Who really thinks that, on last Saturday, Man U v Bolton or Liverpool v Stoke were of greater interest than WBA v Norwich? The BBC and the fans of Manchester/Bolton and Liverpool/Stoke, that's who.

Oops, my memory failed me on that one. Substitute Chelsea v Sunderland then!

err, i think man utd v bolton was a bigger match than our match. it had serious relevance to the title chase. our match was pretty much a mid-table match though you can certainly argue that west brom have been dragged into a relegation battle a little more now. chelsea v sunderland was a cracking match whilst ours was distinctly average. the fact we never really got going in the match and still won tells you everything you need to know! honestly, its ridiculous to say west brom v norwich is a big premier league match. it isn't. its just another game to everyone but us...

Why don't BBC Scotland give a role.

Jake Humpfreys was good last night on MOTD 2 bias aside. Don't mind or exactly dislike Murray. You need some character in these shows, there needs to be people who can play Devils advocate, thought Jason Roberts was tame in comparison to when I've heard him on 606, I remember him having an epic row with another Black chap after the Terry incident especially when the other guy called Roberts an Uncle Tom, if they were in a room together there would of been punches thrown.

northants, i think its difficult for roberts because he is still playing. i do feel there is potentially a very intriguing pundit there though <ok>

as for colin murray, motd2 is infinitely better to watch than the saturday night show so he can't be that bad. he's certainly better than lineker... and adrian chiles!! <yikes>

also, bbc scotland already have their own 'sportscene' programme for the scottish premier league don't they, with pat nevin - another decent and under-used pundit

A relegation battle was more likely this season than a title challenge. They focus on both these things. Seeing as we were never really going to challenge for the title I am rather pleased we are towards then end of the running order as a mid-table club which means we are doing well to avoid relegation.
