Following the comments on MLT's book, what sporting autobiography/bio is your favourite?

the best I read is semi-sport related. "manchester United Ruined My Life" by film director Colin Shindler, is a fabulous read. Yes, it's about his film career, but as the title suggests a lot of football in there. He is a Man City fan, hence the title, but a really good read.

I read "Diary of a Season" with Lawrie Mac, Channon's and MLT's too and they are interesting as they include Saints stuff, but not the best of books.
 
Definitely Bert Trautman, fascinating.

Broke his neck for man city in fa cup final and carried on playing, when one wrong move could have killed him.

Also talks about how he fought in WWII for the Nazis (brainwashed), some of his stories are so interesting! He's from the 40s and 50s but still alive now
 
It took me me a while to think of it, but Ellen MacArthur's autobiography, Taking On The World, is pretty bloody staggering. You said Sport, well Sailing is, even if it isn't on a green pitch. That's my favourite, without question. I sail a bit, but what Ellen did and does just beggars belief.
 
I don't read autobiographies, they annoy me. Anyone who's had five minutes of fame can crap out an autobiography, and nowadays they all do.
