I know it is cliche'd, but for me it was Bayern away. Me and three others spent 3 days in a Vauxhall Astra driving down there and back, sleeping in the car.

3 of the 4 of us spent most of the journey drinking lol. That car stunk to high heaven by the time we got back, as did we! ha ha.

Indeed! I fondly remember Vitesse turning up at CR. We had heard of them and they were a middle to top table side in Holland but we destroyed them at home and should have destroyed them in Holland too! Efan Ekoku missed so many chances in the 2nd leg.

Bayern & Inter were another level, they were amazing nights and such a shame we got Inter so early in the competition otherwise I think we would have progressed to the semi final or even possibly the final,(that's how good the team was at that time)

I remember popping in to the Prince of Wales for a pint or 2 before that game and met 3 of there fans. Nice guys, ended up having more than a pint or two together and playing pool. they were super confident of getting at least a draw against us as they hadn't ever heard of any of our players.... .....oh how they learned. :)

Everton are poor this season I think we will be above them.
Sunderland, maybe we have a little gap but they are the only ones below us putting a run together.
Soke, above us at the moment but can only gain points at home. On the road they look very beatable.
Villa, very inconsistant. What makes you think they will finish higher? They have not done as well as us so far.

Add Newcastle to that list and they are the sides I think will finish around us this season. None of those sides are going to bein any trouble from Relegation but at the same time, none of them scare me and so there is no real reason why we could not finish high up if not top of that little group.

I admit that if Newcastle win today, 8pts might be a little too much to make up, but that aside....

I know it could all go tits up, but at the same time I don't feel it is unrealistic for us to compete strongly with these sides for league position this year. Sombody has got to finish top of this mini league and I see no reason it cant be us.

If we hadn't been depleted, I think we'd have beaten Inter. Heady days.

Though to add to this, I was under the impression (and Wikipedia agrees, not exactly reliable though I do realise) that to qualify for the Europa League through the League Cup, you have to win the competition. If the winner is already in Europe, then it goes to the 6th placed team in the League instead. It's only the FA Cup where is goes to runner up. So, if Man City or Liverpool win the League Cup, and two teams already in Europe get to the final of the FA Cup, positions 5,6 and 7 would qualify for the Europa League.

It will be interesting to see how well Newcastle do over the coming games, they will be without Cheick Tiote, one of their most influential players, and Demba Ba, who has scored 60% of their goals this season. For the record, I think Stoke and Sunderland will both finish above us, the others, we could finish above if we carry on as well as we have started.

Whoaaa!

Europe - What's next up from a miracle worker? That's what Lord Lambert will need to be for us to get in Europe.

If Lambert looks at this article, he will explode!

I think you'll find we already play in Europe! Unless they've moved the UK to another continent!

There is usually something in the Norfolk DNA that makes us born pessimists. Until our points total reads well over 40 (say 44 or 45) I will continue to support the team higher placed against one in the bottom 5 except in the case of Manchester United and Chelsea, who have so many odious figures associated with each club that I would rather stab myself in the eyes than give my backing to them.

My point is that after 2 and a hlaf years now of consistant forward momentum, why do we still look backwards? Surely the better way to look is forwards?

I have no problem with Chelsea and even less of one of we beat them next week but Man Utd??? Not that I hold a grudge or anything but 1977 was the year I started my dislike for them - how dare they try to dismantle our ground!!

An extract from the Sunday Express match report this morning.

"By contrast Norwich boss Paul Lambert has taken the Premier League in his stride by encouraging a brand of football which is fearless and adventurous.

But he is not getting comfortable about their position.

Lambert said: “I have never been complacent and neither are my players. I am not looking higher up the league or lower down. I’m just concentrating on where we are.”

Too much talk of European qualification heaps a great weight of expectation on the team, who, as Lambert admits, are still striving for top flight survival.
and to be fair,
