The glorious South
When David Connolly joined us, I admit to be a tad puzzled by the signing. At a time when we were building a team, I did wonder how, a guy who's entering the twilight of his career & had suffered some really disheartening injuries could possibly take us forward.
Well, I stand before & say, this guy has been absolutely brilliant. When Barnard got injured towards the end of last season, DC came in & did a marvelous job & helped us secure promotion. This season he started off on fire, got a injury at a bad time, but has come back into the team & shown great enthusiam & effort.
What a top bloke & what a inspirational player. Write him off at your peril, he wants another promotion, & I'll not bet against him getting it.

Not in a million years did I think he would be able for the championship but thankfully he proved me wrong and I hope he will get a coaching role at the club.

Just a shame he is getting on and keeps getting niggling injuries.

David Connolly is Different Class <ok>

The guys work rate is immense. And give him half a chance in the the box and he will punish you, as proved today.

Absolutely agree <ok> He's a top player and really deserved to play at the highest level for longer. Maybe he can get another chance with us and show everyone what they missed. :1980_boogie_down:

The moment he retires (whether he is or isn't a Saints player) I want us to offer him a coaching role. He could teach the kids so much.

I was one of the ones who thought he should have been released last season (pre-barnard injury) but I am glad ive been proven wrong - top guy, top player who is doing very very well for us right now

He is the cleverest player we have. If it wasn't for injuries he would still be in the premiership. He has a real footballers brain and it is no coincidence that the likes of Lallana and Cork play better when Connolly is in the team.

I know that DC has been struck with a few niggliing injuries while he's been with Saints, but prior to his big injury, which effectively kept him out of the game for a season, he wasn't an injury prone player. He's no Kieron Dyer, thank goodness.

As I said just a shame he is the wrong side of the 30's. Class finisher who is clinical infront of goal.
