This is for discussion, it is my view over the last few days of transfer and loan fever. What do you think?
The arrival of Darnell Situ (youngster) has been long awaited and no fault of the player.
Rory Donnelly (youngster) is a signing for the future.
We already have a few youngsters playing in the first team squad.
So, why do we really want Josh McEachran? Why do we want Ryo Miyaichi? Chelsea and Arsenal both like the way Swansea play their football, so they are willing to loan us these youngsters - to play in our team and gain premier experience. Pull the wool away from your eyes. If Chelsea like youngsters, why don't they play him in their team? If Arsenal like youngsters, and forwards, why get Henry on loan for 6 weeks when they want to loan us a striker that no-one had heard of?
Why do we want a player from a lowly Championship club, never played in the Premier? Great that he (Maynard) is at scoring goals, but he was doing the same when we had a player called Trundle!!! I believe we even tried to get him at the same time.
We need experience. We need someone who can 'get-stuck-into' these 6ft plus midfielders that step 'over-the-top' of our guys.
What would happen if we received an offer in the next few days for Williams (say £12M), Taylor (say £6M) and Allen (say 12M). Do we have the replacements? Bearing in mind we could lose Caulker, where do we turn? Suppose we can always get some Greek defenders if they are out of contract!!!!!!!
I believe we need to get our youngsters out on loan to premier/championship teams. Seems a great idea for them to play at a good standard, then we have reserves that are playing.
This is not about clearing out the chaff. Yes there are some to go, and we can all think of a few 'off the cuff'. BUT WHAT DO WE NEED?
I really hope we do not lose anybody, but we must be prepared.
Should we really be taking on these loans at the 'cost' of our current players?
Please, lets make this a sensible discussion to get through the next few days.
