.20120110. Noble ready for loan Sunderland to let striker getting playing time By Graeme Bailey - Tweet me: @skygraemebailey. Last Updated: January 10, 2012 3:00pm . ....Sunderland are ready to let striking starlet Ryan Noble leave the club on loan, Sky Sports understands. The 20-year-old has battled back to full fitness after a back problem kept him out at the start of the season. He has been in scintillating form for the Black Cats' second string and has 13 goals in just six appearances. His form has seen a host of Championship clubs lodge enquiries with the Wearside outfit, but new boss Martin O'Neill did not want to let anyone leave until he had time to assess the situation. Now O'Neill is set to sanction a loan deal in order for Noble to get some first-team experience under his belt. .
Well after watching him playing for the reserves at Leigh last night, I can tell you now he certainly is NOT ready for the first team. In the first half his head went down very easily when things were not going his way, he appeared petulant when when the decision did not go his way, but more specifically his work rate was poor to say the least. The lad did improve in the second half but overall there were at least 6 or 7 of that young reswerve side that impressed me more. Oddly enough when Rory Deacon came on for Campbell, the lad did very well on the right wing and Laing was superb all night at centre half...our young reserves were outstanding throughout the entire game
How many hat-tricks did Noble get though Biffa? Did Knott impress again? I'm thinking it'll be and Knott and Laing that gets a crack of the first team by the end of the season. Got my doubts over Noble, he's clearly not strong enough, knows how to find the net though I'll give him that.
This is very good news, the fact he hasn't featured under MON tells you he needs a loan. I hope the fact that a strikers is going out is an indication that one will be coming in
Well there you go then, maybe a spell on loan will do the lad good. Did the opposition give them much of a test Biffa?
Adz, Knott was superb all night mate..I was gobsmacked at the display, as i said in my post that I created at the match (before the power went on me moby) some of the passing and movement was almost Barcelona esq
Billy, the opposition wasnt fantastic, I think only about 3 of them had Blackburn first team experience, and whilst they frustrated our young side in the first half we bloody destroyed them in the second half with passing and movement I have very rarley seen from a Sunderland side (of any level) for over 35 years. I fully appreciate a team is only as good as its opposition is bad, but the dominance was astounding. Not about to crucify young Noble though, he did run his heart out, but his head just seem to drop alot and he was back answering the ref alot too....maybe the lad needs that experience elswhere to bring him up to scratch
If the gossip that you hear has any truth behind it, it is the lads attitude rather than any lack of goal scoring ability that has prevented him having a crack in the first team...And by all accounts, players attitude is very important to MON, and he doesn't suffer fools gladly...
I suspect it is what the lad needs, he is only 20 and cos' of injuries, a bad back at 18/19..needs to do what he does best score goals and get some 1st team experience. Sod his own attitude or whatever his Dad says, go somewhere where he will be playing week in and week out for the 1st team, bang in the goals and the world is his oyster. wonder if this mean MoN has a new striker lined up to come in.
The point I'm making is that we have both Wickham and Campbell coming back to fitness, and as long as they don't suffer any major setbacks, I firmly believe this means we needn't just by for buyings sake, and should only go for a striker who would significantly improve on what we already have...
I agree, the midfield has been wading in with goals aplenty of late and although I think Campbell is still a few weeks away from full fitness we still have players to come back, maybe wait til end of the season
I see two options depending on the boardâs requirement. 1) Don't buy anyone & accept 10 - 17 finish 2) Buy & top 10 I guess we'll all know by the months end.
Just being Devils advocate here, but why if we dont buy anyone we will finish 10-17th. Lets be honest we have had a dire first 3 months to the season, now i know this ride with MON cant last, 4 wins a draw and 1 defeat form till May, but we are top 10 now and played the same amount of games as everyone else (apart from Spurs and Everton), so i really cant see how we cant be 8th-10th (maybe even 7th) come May with the team we have now. Other teams will have sticky patches as well as us. and on the other side of the coin, we may buy someone for 10 million and they may be pants for us, but we try to play to them, it spoils the game plan and we go on another dreadful run. Who would be a manager.
Would be happy if we waited til the summer tbh. Understand what folk are saying about needing a striker but we look like being alright, along the lines that Steve is saying, and we are talking **** loads of money in all likelihood. Be more options in the summer and MON will know what he has striker wise with FC and Whickham fit again. Having said all that, it's always exciting to get a new striker in so I'll be happy either way!
