there is a large debate happening on the boards of blue and amber about gt's 3 year contract coming to an end at the finish of next season and should it be renewed. i am delighted the majority feel he is doing a good job and that his contact should be extended.

    the main points being

we would have been in L1 if it had not been a poor linesman
gt has lifted the shrews game
has made the club a side to be reckoned with in any cup competition and elsewhere
anyone else could well take town back to the bad old days
it was thought gt should be bringing someone on to succeed him, when he feels the time is right to go

there are many things in his favour, his knowledge of the game and opposition etc

so carry on graham you are doing a great job for the club town and county, and if you have had enough at 80, let rowland know.
    floreat salopia

personally i thought the debate was premature but of interest

No he should not go! We are fourth in the league, have a great squad (admittedly some miss-firing strikers who will improve), and we play 'some' pretty good football.

Not on the agenda for me. I wish he'd sometimes bring subs on sooner and I wish we were less reliant on 4-4-2 away from home but he's doing an excellent job, without question.

I'd have thought Mike Jackson is perhaps being groomed to succeed Turner.

I agree - we have not had much success with managers in the past decade or so - most of them have been competent at best and GT has ben a definite improvement. Lets hope he can attract a decent striker this month but even if we do not go up the overall standard of football has been greatly improved under GT.

well has i see it it he is probably in the top five managers in this division no doubt, although his last loans Wildig and wallace and the signing of morgan were a bit unfathomable, but no, he should stay here because i think he is our best hope for success...with very little or NO help from the board ,who just wont give him the resources to take our club further. he is manging the club with one hand tied behind his back!!

You need one manager in charge of a fairly successful squad of players, who can tinker with the engine to stop Morgan misfiring or Ainsworth pinking!

misfiring morgan, there is a moggie joke there.morgans normally do not misfire they purr! wake up pussy cat and start scoring goals. i think ainsworth has been on 2 star, now he is on 5 star gold, just hear him revving, as for bradshaw and collins, 5 star should be better than that camping gaz they were on or was it lighter fuel, anyway we need a big win on saturday. a draw or a loss and we can kiss goodbye to promo. imo, fs, aab, coys, bots, ctrapab!!

i don't think losing the next match will put us out of the promotion race but i do think if Rowland would open his cash drawer ever so slightly and give GT a bit of help we would stand a better chance of being in the pack at the end of the season thats for sure!!

I know some of Rowland's family I found out today, I asked them to pass on a message - "spend some bloody money and change that bloody badge"

some shrewd sage on b and a, suggested if things went wrong gt should go and take rw with him. i suspect he was overlooking the small fact that rw and his board are the owners of the club.

hopefully rowland will make money available once all 3 loanees have decided their future. wallace has decided, we await news on wildig and hurst

One thing that should be taken into account is if he wants to stay beyond the three years. If we are promoted that could influence him but, if not, he will walk of his own volition.

One thing that has always disappointed is his choice of backroom staff. Trewick was maligned at Hereford both as assistant and manager. Jackson does not cut it for me. When in charge of the reserves, the results have been very mixed. Coughlan maybe would have been a better bet in the long term. A possibility is Sharps in the future.

thanks lenny do tell him how it is. he has a nice bentley, i saw him and the bentley in april on the friday before the stockport match. he even held the door of the club shop open for me. it was only when he drove off in the bentley i recognised the registration number. and to think i had the chance of asking him to change that ruddy awful pop art badge. lenny the lion, not you lenny, lives!

I was behind him in the queue at the Shire Frier by the Column a year or so ago. I wasn't too sure if it was him until I walked out to see that bentley heading back to his house on the other side of the roundabout where the YHA used to be!

As the Cobblers chairman said "Managers are all about the same ability at this level"

GTs come round once in a while, enjoy it while it lasts!
