I don't have rose tinted glasses mate. I don't agree with you that Neil wasn't doing it for us in the PL. Our Club needs stability which he was bringing. MH who has just arrived at LR seems no better qualified to me than Neil, but of course I hope he keeps us up. If not we may have yet another managerial change in the summer. And stop misquoting Neil on this thread at least!

Just shows what a fine line there is between success and failure in football. A lot of 'ifs'. If Sunderland hadn't scored that last-gasp winner. If SWP hadn't given the ball away to Arshavin. If Barton hadn't been sent off against Norwich. Undoubtedly many more like this, but without a few slices of bad luck and individual mistakes, we could be comfortably mid-table with Warnock still at the helm.

Don't get me wrong, though. A difficult call by the Board, but probably the right one given what the damned January transfer window forces you into.

Sort of agree with some of this <ok>
I am all for stability and don't like seeing a manager 'merry go round', in fact when i saw SSN mention all the managers since 2006 today i thought what a mess.
but 'Stability' comes in more forms than having a long term boss, for instance our league position is not exactly 'stability' because a few bad results and we are down.
And as for 'misquoting Neil'? I never 'miss quote' people, for me thats a 'sin'. NW quoted what i put down on SSN.

NW Thanks for a fantastc rollercoaster 2 seasons where we climbed and climbed. You had the hassle of tango and bernie and a parasite called paladini to deal with and a spoilt git called adel to deal with...and you did it well.
I was gutted to see you depart, and, in last 8 games we have also had Man U, Liverpool and Arsenal as well as Norwich / Swansea (away so not easy), one or two bad decisions going against us, bad bits of luck going against you. With luck on your side the takeover would have occurred earlier and you would maybe have had an opportunity of getting your first choices in rather than not.
You are also one of the longest serving managers we had, and one of the most successful we have had and your replacement will need to hit the ground running. Whether it was right to replace you at this time, we will find out in May.
But its another day, another chapter and whether its MH or A N Other, IF they can achieve what you did in the time you had with us, then TF's decision will be proved to be the right one.

Thank you one and all for your posts. They have all made interesting reading and highlighted the fact that there was certainly mixed emotions and feelings around Neil and his ability - but a general sense of gratitude for his efforts over the past 2 years.

Second half of the season underway so fingers crossed we are all here at the end of season applauding the actions of the board and celebrating retention of our premier league status.

If not, will certainly make for some interesting exchanges :) Best wishes to one and all.
