Spot on.
How people can say he has done well in the Premiership is beyond me. NW did a great Job in the Championship but has proved (just like at Sheff Utd) that the Prem was a step too much.
If he had stayed he would have taken us down (imo). It looks like MH is the new manager and we should move on.

Canada! Take a look at Neil's total record, which is very strong, full of successes, not just his PL one, where he does not have so much experience.

But...........the PL is where we are and where we want to be.......he is clearly the right man to get a team promoted and no doubt he will repeat his fine efforts with us....and I'm sure all would have wanted him to be successful. its not just the results, its the lack of tactical nous, the odd selections & substitutions, the underperforming players, the poor performances. All signs of a downhill trend that couldnt be allowed to continue. In any industry the manager has to take responsibility for getting his staff to work effectively. if he felt Barton for example wasnt pulling his weight..then why keep picking him?

MH record (Win percentage) is much better than NW in the Premier League. They showed it on SSN today.
Anyway Welome MH.

****! See what you made me do! This is a TRIBUTE thread to the legend Neil Warnock, get this discussion over to another thread ASAP or stop it altogether.

Follow this advice:

Norway! Been there done it! Its a toss up which of Neil's track record with numerous promotions, titles, cup successes at levels right beneath the PL is better than Hughes greater experience with PL teams but little or nothing in the way of concrete success, is better. For me I'd take Neil's win record - but I fail to see the point in repalcing Neil with a manger who isn't obviously better. I don't see that Hughes or any of the other candidates are better.

As I said on the other thread I think we would have been better off seeking continuity, and keeping Neil to the end of this season at least.

As i said Oslo, i won't take this discussion on this thread. But comparing win percentages in the Premier League and the Championship and below is apple and oranges.

Fine with me - there have been more threads deleted the last day or so than I've had cups of coffee, and there's been one hell of a lot of them!

Well I (for one) wish Neil Warnock all the best for the future - and with thanks for the turnaround he's brought at our club. In spite of all the difficulties under Briatore and Ecclestone, his side got promoted as Champions. And - in spite of not being allowed to spend what was required - got us off to a decent start. A bit of bad luck and circumstance aside, another two wins (maybe Newcastle as one?) would have seen us comfortably in mid-table and some fickle fans would have been reasonably happy. What a shame (for him) but I hope it will bring another positive manager in - and Mark Hughes would get my vote anyday.

http://www.london24.com/sport/champ...r_boss_qpr_went_up_a_year_too_early_1_1172912

Former QPR manager Neil Warnock has spoken out after he was dismissed by the club at the weekend after one win in 12 games.

The 63-year-old felt he could have kept the west London club in the Premier League but insisted he accepted the board’s decision, but feels that those in charge lacked experience of running a football club.

He also felt that the club went up a year too early and this made his life more difficult.

“While I accept the owner’s decision, I do feel if there were more people at the club in positions of power with experience in the game they would have understood how well we have done in the circumstances,” he said in his Independent column.

“They would’ve realised that once we brought in the players I had identified there would have been no problem securing a Premier League future.

“But no doubt the chairman has had a string of agents in touch telling them their man could do a better job.

“It looks like it might be Mark Hughes, though I heard around Christmas they were thinking of Zola and Wilkins. Will a new manager make a difference? Not as much as new players will. If you haven’t got the players you can’t win games, that’s another fact of life in football management.

“I just wish I had the chance to bring in the ones I wanted, both in the summer, and this month.”

“I do feel if there were more people at the club in positions of power with experience in the game they would have understood how well we have done in the circumstances.”

The former Sheffield United boss was reflective about the situation and also felt that the uncertainty over who would own QPR played against him.

“Getting the sack is a fact of life in football management and I should know. I’ve now been fired by Burton Albion, Notts County,Plymouth Argyle, Oldham Athletic and Queen’s Park Rangers,” he said.

“They say it is a results business. It is, but only up to a point. At three of those clubs, including QPR, I’d won promotion.

“The problem with that is it raises expectations that a club isn’t always geared up to meet.

“At QPR we probably went up a year too early. In March 2010, when I arrived, we were fighting relegation to League One. By May 2011 we were celebrating promotion to the Premier League after winning the Championship.

“Unfortunately, because of the uncertainty over the ownership, we were not able to get into in the transfer market early enough or well enough to build on that in the summer.

“The bulk of my squad is last year’s team - several of them were in the side that nearly went down. When the new owners arrived in the third week of August they told me my remit was to get some players signed in a rush before the deadline, then get to the new year with QPR outside the bottom three. We could then bring in three or four players in the January window.

“I feel I have kept to that. We have not been in the bottom three all season. When I look at how managers at other clubs in the Premier League have been given unequivocal support by their board it is an understatement to say I am very disappointed.

“We knew we had a tough run of fixtures - we’ve played Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal in the last six matches - but there were winnable games coming up and I feel we had been playing well enough to win them. Look at our last three League matches.

“We played very well at Swansea, dominating the second half, held our own at Arsenal, and were leading Norwich. But you can’t legislate for Shaun Wright Phillips giving the ball straight to Arshavin with half an hour left, or Joey Barton getting sent off.

“A few more points and we’d be mid-table, which is where I feel our football deserves us to be.”

Well Neil you brought in those players (Barton,Traore,SWP,Young,Ferdy and co) and now you say they are not good enough? How does that make them feel?
I think NW should take it on the chin and move on and not start a 'war of words'.

Take those ‘rose tinted’ glasses off.
If you have read my posts over the years (unless you are a newbie) you will know that I have been very supportive of NW and what he has done for the club.
I am sad to see him leave but I am intelligent enough to know that a change needed to be made because sadly he was not doing it for us in the Premiership.

I was there the year we went down (west ham) and all the relegation games before at Coventry and Co I saw us go down to League One and was at all those games and now I have wait 15 years to see us play Premiership football I don’t want it ruined in our first season back.

I am not one of those deluded supporters who say ‘we should go down with NW’, utter rubbish.
NW has said on SSN that he ‘takes full responsibility’ for our position.

Our club is bigger than any player or Manager and fans should realise that.

I say thanks NW for some great times but the club is now moving on without him, get over it.
