Prior Warning For Wigan

By Dan King - Newcastle United Club Reporter

Trialist Jason Prior will get a chance to shine for Newcastle United in the Reserves' Barclays Premier Reserve League fixture against Wigan on Tuesday (kick-off 1pm).

The striker from Isthmian League outfit Bognor Regis has been training with the Magpies in recent days, and is part of Willie Donachie's second-string squad for the match at the club's Benton training centre, which will be played behind closed doors.

There are also a handful of senior players in the 16-man party, with Dan Gosling, Sammy Ameobi, Haris Vuckic and Rob Elliot all involved.

All four of them were substitutes in the FA Cup win against Blackburn on Saturday, with Gosling coming on shortly before Jonas Gutierrez's late decider.

Vuckic scored in the reverse fixture against the Latics at the Robin Park Arena, along with Mehdi Abeid in a 2-0 victory.

Ryan Donaldson is also in line to make his first appearance since suffering a hamstring injury in his first game on loan at Tranmere Rovers back in September whole Patrick Nzuzi returns after serving a one-match suspension in the last league game against Bolton.

The squad is: Rob Elliot, Ole Soderberg, Patrick Nzuzi, Tamas Kadar, Jeff Henderson, Remie Streete, Greg McDermott, Dan Gosling, Bradden Inman, Joan Edmundsson, Yven Moyo, Sammy Ameobi, Haris Vuckic, Phil Airey, Ryan Donaldson, Jason Prior.
