So how do we feel about this ??? I'm a long way from convinced he's any good. Sorry, rephrase that, .......he's VERY good. Sure he's OK, but I thought we were after absolutely top quality in our signings from now on ?? Still think Alex is at least the equal to Cahill.Everyone from Chelsea on this site has one consistent moan... we've got too many "ordinary " players and not enough crackers. I think we've just got another ordinary one. Hope I'm completely wrong.

Well Alex wants to leave so we are not replacing Alex to get a better player, more out of necessity. At 7 mill for an England international the right side of 30 is great business. He is more than good enough to be a 3rd choice centra back (assuming Terry and Luiz and still no 1 partnership).

Agree. Alex very good player despite this season's howlers, probably better than Cahill.

But he's fallen out with AVB. Shame we could have done with Alex v Napoli!

Completely agree with your assessment. May even turn out to be 1st choice, but not there yet in my humble opinion. I know everyone bags Luiz, but I think he's such a talented wholehearted player, I hope he gets the chance to mature into the very good player I think he could be. Shame if Cahills' arrival screws up Luiz' development, because he's definitely" work in progress" right now
