Premier League: Win-Win Situation?

Been thinking about our side in the Premier League, and potential survival or relegation (early I know but its better to think ahead), and it got me thinking how much would it impact going straight back down?

I come to the conclusion there wouldn't be much impact financially due to the 4 year parachute payments which enable us to prepare better etc etc so even if we went back down I wouldn't be too disapointed to an extent, but staying up would also give us that financial package that enables us to push on further so either way we can push on with the financial packages available

either way, I think it would be a win-win situation whatever happens in the Prem. Thoughts?

I like how positive you are, However we are far far away from the premier league especially on current form.
 
Its seem reasonable to think like this. But it rarely works out as easily, if we go up you would have to gues that we will spend heavily on wages/fees should we go up and already we have been making a loss. I think it wouldnt be as straight forward finacially and on the pitch as it might seem. Although obviously its better to go up than not.
 
I agree . If we go up the money will of course help massively , but it is a huge if . Relagation would not be the end of the world as long as we went back up the next season , but I see no reason we Cannot do a norwich IF we go up .
 
If we went up, Nicola would still be reasonably careful with money. We would have more to spend, but I can't see him spending to the point we'd be in trouble if relegated. Difficult balancing act, as is the spending at the moment when we may or may not get promoted.
 
The only problem I see with the Win-Win theory is the impact upon team confidence/players leaving if we came straight back down. Feeling that the potential of us making the prem is the main draw for players to our wonderful club and if we make it and fail, the better players might want out.

But then if we do improve from current form and go up, the guys will be good enough to compete :-)

That is income though and includes the parachute payments. Once you consider the higher wages, Likely higher transfer fees then it's like having London weighting of 10% on your wages. Meaning that once you take into account the much higher rents and C Tax in London you aren't much better off ;)

I think this wil only be the case for players who we buy in for or once in the Prem. Those who are on the bus already will still be on the bus if we went down. They are with the 'spirit and ethos' of the club.

agreed - he aint gunna gamble due to the threat of relegation and the impact that will bring if you spend silly money
 
I'd like it if we spent quite a bit of money if we go up,buy 2 or 3 quality players and use some of our academy stars aswell.
Would be disastrous if we went down though.
 
Nicola has closely guarded our finances so far so that wouldn't change on promotion. He runs a stable, sustainable ship.

It would be disattrous if we went down and stayed down , but if we did a baggies , we would be OK long term I like to think .
