The Celebration Buffet & Dance for the Cup winning team of ’73 was held in the Park Lane Hotel, Piccadilly on the evening of the match.

In accordance with tradition, SAFC Chairman Keith Collings proposed the toast to the Football Association and Guests.

Who responded on behalf of the FA?

I was in London that night but by the end of the evening was slightly the worse for wear!!!! Maybe it was someone from NUFC. Now that would've been a laugh.

The old boy who used to wear an eye patch, maybe? Lord something or the other - was their Chairman?

I was nursing a gash in my head after the bloke behind me threw his coke bottle in the air when Porterfield scored, as you can guess it landed on my bonce so i haven't a clue who it was. Are you going to tell us Argus?

Lots of interesting responses but unfortunately not a correct answer yet.

Answer on Monday morning

I was at the game that day, and I havn't got the foggiest idea who the FA representative was. I was also thinking of the pirate Lord Westwood, and the only others that come to mind is Bobby or Jack Charlton or perhaps Bobby Moore who as England World Cup winners may have had a role for the FA.

Argus, I'm going to refrain from echoing MW's thoughts, I'm wondering if it was one of the minor Royals? Duke of Kent, he was president of the FA for yonks.
