Goons aren't really our rivals, though, are they? Not any more. United & £ity are our rivals now <ok>

Ginola <laugh>
What about Barmby/ As player manager when 'Arry leaves?

In true Kevin Keegan style, I think the problem with Scholesy is that he's lost that bit of pace he never had. I fear for the number of mistimed tackles he may make.

But his passing and ball retention is still peerless and there will be many games where someone who keeps possession and controls the ball (and hence the game) will be vital. There have been a few games where Utd have clearly needed this.

Come on Lidl, the Scholes return is desperate and embarrassing for both club and player, there's no way of dressing it up.

It should also kill off this "Sneijder to Old Trafford" sloblock - if they could afford him, they wouldn't be asking Scholes to put his retirement on hold...six months after he retired.

Anyone think Sir Les could make a decent impact sub?

No, I would disagree. Scholes can do a job for the rest of the season. What is there to lose?

He's not an alternative to Sneijder or, dare I say it, Modric or a player of that age and quality. But a deal for one of those isn't going to be done in January and Cleverley could be the solution anyway, when fit.

He's not an alternative because they can afford him...
