Andmcit: Welcome to the board.

Personally Tash doesn't bother me too much, most of the time I don't even bother reading his articles, and apart from the "Greggs for pasty... fat ****" trilogy I rarely get annoyed. I think having the odd **** article to ignore is well worth some of the banter which stems from it, the "Jonas doesn't wave to me" jokes for example, and the "Death threats from terrorists" line. There is a line you don't cross though and Tash would do well to remember that next time he considers calling someone's wife a slut. Although to be fair he did apologise (publicly of course <doh>) for it.

Totally agree Donkey Toon, I'm not defending anything that appears to be so close to the bone that has been posted by RIP (which I fortunately still haven't seen) and agree there's no place for such actions. I'm no stranger to forums having posted many 1000's on several and actually moderate on one and agree many if not all posters are self policing and friendly in thier actions and hope RIP BT actually see's the error of his actions; I wouldn't want to see calls for his removal if his genuinely atones for his ill manered post.

One thing I'm impressed with is the quite unique option to hide posters you don't wish to read - not something I've seen elsewhere.

Whilst I told him I'd have probably banned him for that comment yesterday, I would have undoubtably done it for a short period of time, a suspension if you will (don't know if this forum has this feature, but the one I moderate on does).
I myself don't want Tash to leave, his enthusiasm is second to none, but it's his attitude that can come across as stinking at times (note at times, at other times he can be a decent lad). It's all down to maturity in my mind - age has nothing to do with this as we all mature differently and it's through life experiences that we effectively learn to grow up.
He reminds me of a friend at sixth form I used to have called Wilson, who if you could get past some of his faults was deep down an alright lad, he just didn't know where to stop at times and would overstep the mark. I've since met him since we've went to uni and he couldn't be more different.
I mentioned on my second post on his I'm sorry thread that he needs to learn to treat everyone with the utmost respect until he knows their boundaries, I think it's fair to say the vast majority of us he could attack personally or regarding our opinions and it'd be taken as banter likewise everyone else could, but people have far different ideas of what can be said beyond that.
In retrospect I'm not surprised he snapped as it probably does get to him everyone constantly on his back, that's why I've always kept my mouth closed in these kind of matters (think I can count on one hand the amount of times I've ever had a go at him) but that doesn't make what he said right, although I'd like to hope he has learned a lesson from this whole saga, would be interesting to read a response from him if he has.

<ok>

Totally agree - I think some forum etiquette needs to be learned by RIP BT. Living (and posting) with your heart on your sleeve can be exciting and very gung ho, but ultimately will land you in trouble and will unintentionally hurt some people's feelings. Before submitting every post, I try to stop and re-read everything and ask myself if I'm prepared to stand by the comments and the effect/point they have. OK, this evening I've been fighting my iphone myself and it's been typostastic but I wonder if he re-reads everything his posts afterwards and sometimes curls his toes with embarrassment?
