At present we have out injured; Frazer Richardson (unknown) Jose Fonte (Foot - Not sure of a return) Lee Barnard (Ankle - Couple of Months) Guly (Gluteal - Not sure of a return) Danny Butterfield (Unknown but has been out for a few weeks) Radhi Jaidi (Knee - Couple of weeks) Richard Chaplow (Knee - Couple of weeks) Danny Seaborne (Head - Not sure of a return) Steve De Ridder (Groin - Not sure of a return) We also have David Connolly lacking match fitness, Rickie Lambert suspended, and Ryan Dickson out on loan with Holmes & Forte on the verge of joining him out on loan. The list is a bloody long one I assure you
Harding did well on the right and did use his right peg for a couple of crosses, but did cut in on his left alot. With Lambert back an inswinging left footed cross from the right could suit him.
This is what I feared. A League winning/promotion chasing side must often have the good fortune to escape a serious injury list. Saints' list is starting to mount up, and the squad isn't looking so strong at present. Getting a few very good quality signings in now will have the extra bonus of easing the strain on the present players to keep playing, whilst possibly carrying niggles, and also have that crucial eye to next season. Our Japanese import, Tadanari Lee has been bought with an eye to next season, obviously, but also to expand Saints presence in the Oriental countries. His work permit can't come through too soon. Puncheon may also get a last chance.
Hooiveld could be added to that list yet. Aswell as Lallana, dissapointed that he played today, if I'm honest. :/
Hopefully most of those aren't out for too long. This game was probably one for some of the first choice players to shake off minor knocks.
Adkins said 13 in his interview. 13 players weren't available for selection today; Jaidi, Seabourne, Barnard are the obvious ones. Didn't realize we had picked up so many injuries though - definitely a massive set back. I guess the figure could include players we've put out on loan too. Harlee Dean scored an OG against Brentford today. Having a mare.
