Blackburn Rovers fans have been urged to boycott their own club's FA Cup match on Saturday and watch a local non-league club instead. I fully support the right to protest but can't see how this can help the players. Protest all you like before and after matches but during games get behind the team! Even in the dark days I don't remember any saints fans boycotting matches. Views?
At least the Blackburn fans are going to their local non-league team who are in financial trouble and have a former Blackburn player as manager and a former Blackburn player as player-coach
It depends how desperate things get, doesn't it? The only power fans have is to stop going. I would consider failing to show up if I felt the whole club was in disarray and came close a few times under Wupert. Organising a disparate group like fans is like herding cats, so it will be difficult to make it effective. If long suffering fans are trying to organise this, then good luck to them.
I would never protest by boycotting a match - we should be supporting them, not making them suffer because we hate the board or whoever
Sometimes it gets to the stage it's the only thing left. Also it will get the protested noticed more then just doing it before or after a game.
I think a lot of people did boycott actually but we still got around 15,000 every game. I would never do it, personally.
It depends on the circumstances I boycotted during the later stages of Ian Branfoots reign by not getting a season ticket and returned when Alan Ball came back. If the club is financially sound, but you don't like the manager and style of play then why should you continue to support the club financially. Saints fans had got to the same stage as Blackburn supporters have now when you're just fed up of going and protesting because no one is listening, but these owners soon listen to the balance sheet. Of course if like during the dutch days at Saints when the club was penniless and the young players were trying there best then boycotting the club would be stupid, because that's when it needs your support the most. This blackburn boycott will be interesting as being far removed from their supporters you never know with these situations whether it is a vocal minority or the feelings of every supporter. This way they get to vote with there feet and if they do get a low gate then it will be interesting to see if the Venkis react.
and you are fully content with the results your actions put into play- sometimes a brick in the ceo,s window works and sometimes a simple protest is what is needed for the ceo to hear the little guy- but let me thank you for your actions to save our club
I went to the games to a point, but just couldn't handle it anymore. Seeing the smug twat just sitting there like nothing was wrong.
