Dont know if anyones done this already, but theres a couple of journos on twitter saying Ireland has had a minor setback with his thigh and is rated 50/50 for the Everton game, and Barton is also considered 50/50. Guthrie and Shola look likely to be in contention.

If they were truly the odds, the law of averages says one of Ireland or Barton will be fit so fingers crossed <ok> EDIT: incorrect - 3 in 4 chance.

What team/formation porn are we thinking if neither are available?

I think the 5-3-2 with Jonas, Nolan and Tiote in the middle could work, and Pardew seems to love Saylor, any excuse to play him may be used. Also Simpson and Enrique could get more forward without pressure to run back as there are still 4 covering them and Tiote.

For me if Bartons fit play the normal system for obvious reasons

If we have Ireland fit but not Barton i'm not sure. Can Ireland play as a regular center midfielder or does he have to be more attacking minded. We could go for a 4-2-2-2 with him and Jonas behind the two strikers with Nolan and Tiote holding back a bit
Or maybe 4-3-1-2 with either him or jonas dropping back into center mid

He describes himself as box to box, so he should be ok in the middle, but he likes getting forward so AM is also a possibility.

Would like to see Ireland off the striker if both are available though.

my line up is

Harper

Tiote

i would have gone for

tiote

but i thought wed need a goal keeper just because its the rules

alas if they are both 50/50 then there is only a 1 in 4 chance of both being fit, 1 in 2 of one of them, and knowing our luck the the reality, a 1 in 4 chance of neither of them being fit. (feel free to correct me, im not a maths whizz). sorry, had a bad day so feeling negative.

Well cheer yourself up with the knowledge that your maths skills are good

Hang on, maybe I got it wrong. Possibilities:

Barton unfit, Ireland unfit.
Barton fit, Ireland unfit.
Barton unfit, Ireland fit.
Barton fit, Ireland fit.

you're right, but a 3 in 4 chance of at least one being fit isnt bad <ok>

Sorry but you didn't do very well in todays maths class, there is only a 1 in 2 chance of one being fit.

How about this(assuming of course Barton and Ireland are out) :

Harper
Saylor Colo Willo Enrique
Simpson Tiote Nolan Guti
Best Lover

Looks OK to me.
