nm was the newcastle arsenal match then lol still karma though and doubt it because lampard isn't a scumbag and known as a scumbag, his a fair player and quickly apologised for the tackle and it was not two footed so it didn't deserve a red, it was a clumsy tackle. Obviously you can say it was a red because some of the reds that have been given this season were for much less but their evidence of **** refereeing

Whether he apologised or not he's firmly caught the bloke with his studs a fair way up his leg which would have been a red in seasons gone by, not just this year where refs seem desperate to give a red to anyone daring to commit a foul. It was as bad a tackle and not dissimilar to what Martin Taylor did to Eduardo and Lampard and the guy he fouled are lucky it didn't have the same result.

Seriously, I think Barton was targeted by some of the Norwich players, and MOST of them were keen to get him sent off.

Just before the supposed headbutt, Barton is clearly kicked as he tries to run through the midfield, and then is pushed over by Bradley Johnson.

Then when all the palaver happens most of the Norwich players are clearly trying to convince the referee and linesman. Johnson rubbing his face, as an indication he'd been head butted.

One player who seemed to disagree with the ref's decision was actually the Norwich captain, Grant Holt. In the TV replay when the ref
pulls out the red card to Joey barton, you can see the Norwich Captain show his displeasure at the ref's decision...

Spot on, I can imagine their ore match team talk. Lambert "right boys lets get at them, rough em up a bit, I want Barton and Taraabt targeted because they're loose cannons. Pull their shirts, wrestle them, give them 2 handed shoves in the back, don't worry about the ref delias given him one off the wrist and a plate of her best mince pies to keep the fat blind twat on our side.

How can anyone defend barton he has a bad reputation because of what he has done in the past, shouldnt even be playing professional football he belongs in the local leagues in Liverpool, id pay to watch him try his crap in local football.

Cheers for that invaluable input.

Except he never was going to deal with it. He'd already let more than one late challenge on Barton go and seemed intent on giving the Norwich midfield free rein to do as they pleased as well as the rest of the team to rough our lot up whilst blowing up every time one of our players went within five yards of theirs. A competent ref would have taken the sting out of the situation far earlier and it's quite clear that neither he nor the linesman saw what he claimed to send him off for, as it simply didn't happen.

It's all very well saying play to the whistle, let the ref do his job etc etc but it's a passionate game and Barton had a right to give some verbal back which he did and had he headbutted him it would have crossed the line, but he didn't.

Well, with that bright idea we lost the game and our captain for 3 games. Yes, we really showed Norwich who is boss. Christ.

Yes, exactly. It's called gamesmanship. Not cheating. If that directive came from Lambert then he should take some credit cos the donkey tool the carrot.

Barton was being regularly fouled with no protection from the ref, squared up to the main protagonist, got scythed down 10 seconds later and then got sent off for daring to square up to the guy. He didn't headbutt him, he didn't raise his hands to him unlike Johnson did later on yet he got sent off by a referee and linesman who didn't see it. I don't know what you expected the bloke to do- if that was any of the other 21 players on the pitch the ref would never have sent him off.

Spot on again Watford, and it seemed also like Holt didn't agree with the Red.

You don't seem capable of understanding what I wrote. If he had done something worthy of a red card then he'd be rightly villified on here. If he does something not worthy of a red card how is he supposed to compensate for incompetent officials who don't see an incident and make up a headbutt? If a striker dives you don't have a go at the defender and I don't see what is different here. In a perfect world all our players would be saints and able to rise above having lumps kicked out of them without protection from a crap referee but I don't see anything wrong in having a go back in a way that doesn't contravene the rules. At worst for us it should have been a yellow for both of them for clashing heads.

The Holt thing is bollocks too. He was remonstrating with the linesman to get Barton done and a half-hearted plea to not send him off when it was likely Johnson would get the same punishment doesn't make up for that imo.

You are right there if that was how it was.

I think Bartons latest rant shows he's completely lost it

Sueing Johnson and the Ref, He's losing his stupid scouse mind

Hope the FA nail him, Warnock and your coward director who removed his tweets

But frankly, we don't need this drama, we don't do it at Norwich. We just play good football.

Good old lovely Norwich, winning fairly with good old-fashioned hard work and honesty.

This isn't the first time a Norwich player has gone down as if he's been shot square in the head. In their match vs Bolton, Teirney started rolling around as if he was a pig in the mud after contact that was next to nothing on his delicate little hair on his forehead
