Excellent. I guess he's most famous for Norwegian Wood, but there are many great books - A Wild Sheep Chase, Dance, Dance, Dance, The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, South of the Border, West of the Sun...

He's very big in Japan. <laugh>

This got me thinking... Still no sign of BigInJapanLikeMe since the earthquakes in Japan.

Can only fear the worst :(

Anyone read 'I partridge, we need to talk about Alan' ?

I've literally seen one bit which was 'Smelly Alan Fartridge, Smelly Alan Fartridge, he loves his mum, he lives in her bum, you think that's bad, you should smell his dad'
Has me in stitches !!

Bloody hell, I do English Literature at Newcastle Uni - I thought Not606 was one of my only safe havens from books!

Ah well, never mind. I read A-LOT but my top five personal favourites are . . .

American Psycho - Bret Easton Ellis
Lolita - Vladmir Nobokov
Catch-22 - Joseph Heller
Slaughterhouse-Five - Kurt Vonnegut
Lord of the Rings - JRR Tolkien

Got it for Christmas and plan to start reading it tomorrow :D

I've made a New Year's resolution to read at least one book a month. Signed up to goodreads.com to try and motivate me.

On a re-read binge at the moment ... two of my favourites and both recommended

The Silmarillion - JRR Tolkien
Flashman and the Mountain of Light - George MacDonald Fraser
