Times were more embarrasing last season. However, tomorrow is when I want to see Drogba pack his bags. A new striker, winger and defender please. Thoughts?

Oh I agree, however, Drogba is a bad influence on the team, and his attitude is all over the place. Also, loosing him would see the end of an era and a massive influence gone. I am happy for all that he has done but his time is up.

I find it hard to believe that United could actually gain ground on us with a 3-2 loss at home to Blackburn.

hmm, we were off the top by 4 or 5 points this time last season. Spending £75m won't help. I'd replace the players leaving and try and find some more Romeu's <ok>.

This really is Suk-worthy: no consistency, no plan B and no ambition.....sort it out AVB! Europa here we come.....getting hammered by draw specialists.

Its very strange ,You played a blinding game against spurs and got a point , the dross like villa come along and it goes pear shaped.

When we played them we were the same ,. got a point .and we played AWFUL.

Both Chelsea and Arsenal have had the same problem , inconsistency .

The only reason the spuds are doing well this season is they are far more consistent.

and the way to cure it is .................. feck knows.

less hours on the training pitch and more in a councillers chair so the players mentality and attitude can be sorted...nothing to do with talent...or results would be predictable

Ancellotti before him and AVB have spent more than a season trying to get this mob playing decent consistent football. Both have completely failed. We've heard about no plan B, bad subs, tactics, formations, we've heard the lot. The simple facts are that too many players have selfish attitudes, expect to be paid the best wages in the game and not have to earn them. We created a team of largely spoiled brats. Put the broom through the lot of them , at least the half dozen clearly past their use by dates. And bring in some youngsters to replace the other 4 who are already on the slide. You all know who they all are.

    Seriously, I wonder about CFC.

I thought it was the club hirarchy, but I guess it's you fans as well.

Drogba and Anelka have been fantastic players for you. How about some gratitude? Show some dignity in the treatment of players. You're paying them no matter what. Nothing wrong with moving players on once they get old, but the treatement of players like Ballack and Anelka/Malouda has just been poor by CFC.

The problem with your squad is not the quality it's the egos. AVB doesn't like egos, he's a bit like Mancini, he can handle one per team (like Bibbliotelli or Drogba) but not 5-6. Mourinhos team thrived off egos and aggression in the dressing room. Ballack and Drogba going square to square to compare who's got the bigger? That attitude won you many games, most famously when you came from behind at the bridge to beat ManU, I think that was when grant was in charge, leading up to the CL final.

Point being these players were signed in part because of their egos and attitude and now you can't realistically expect them to change the way they are. So in a way this is a case of wrong manager for the wrong team. He's a good manager, it's a good team, but together this isn't working. Some of the players look older than the manager. Look at lampard taking his instructions yesterday - he was actually looking in a different direction, he simply was not listening to AVB's jibberish. Also the guy just talks too much.

So what are you going to do? Throw money at the problem I guess. Do a big overhaul, get 5-6 players in summer. In the meantime you've lost touch with the top i think, it's gonna be arsenal ManU and City next year. Liverpool/Chelsea/Spurs slogging it out for 4th.

Not sure you're on the mark here. The fans have always shown gratitude for the players, but like all fans, they expect the players to put in. I think too many leave the hard slog to too few, albeit the best paid ones. Lampard, Terry always give everything, not sure Drogba, Malouda or Anelka do. Maybe they do ,but they just don't show it.
Anyway, egotistical players trying to out do each other is fine, lifts everyone.
Right now we have several players who are not performing. Either they can't anymore ( which I think is mostly the case ) or they are not trying, which is not acceptable. Thing is , it's been this way for the best part of 2 seasons, so something HAS to be done.
The manager being changed is not the way to go. We also don't need to spend like we used to. This manager has a very good eye for players, i.e. Mata, Romeu, Meireles. More of the same will be fine. However we desperately need a striker of the top order. Look at Aguero as an example. We need a midfield controller of the top order, and a quick winger. 3 players who will not be cheap.
Mostly I think we need some off the field assessment. The old saying " when it's bad on the field, it's bad off the field " may well be right, which is your point I suppose about the situation. But these are professional, highly paid players, and if they are the problem, only one answer.

Way off. From what I have seen of our fans most of them show the upmost respect to our players. We respect all the have done for the club, however, that does mot mean that we will sit back and be happy when players like Drogba don't move their weight. The past doesn't mean they can do **** all in the present.

I think we might be a bit spoilt with our experiences since Ken Bates and Roman owned the business. When you've seen us get relegated (then promoted) 4 times, you can say ," wow-how fantastic to be in the top 5!". When Jose delivered his 1st PL I was on Cloud 9 in a big way. Thats why I cant get to grips with 5th. AVB---get it sorted! and thats an order!

Exactly! The saying goes that you ar only as good as your last game. What players did a few years ago means nothing now. Get rid of Drogba and Torres will flourish. Luiz looks terrible everytime I see him. Awful signing.
