Carroll should have had at least two goals.

Do you remember in the first half when Jose flash a ball across our 6 yard line but nobody was there? Carroll was stolling forward into the box at the time. He's the lone striker, he should be busting a gut to get on the end of it.

His positional sense does seem woeful at times (in fact he's looked permanently in the wrong place since he arrived <whistle>) but likewise our wide men simply haven't given enough quality service either for much of the season. Notice once Gerrard came on Carroll started getting a lot more chances simply because the balls were being delivered into better areas. His touch is **** though and if he can't sort that he won't last more than another year at Liverpool.

Thought Newcastle were massively in the game until Gerrard came on, absolutely bossed the start of the second half and we hardly touched the ball for ten minutes but despite this possession chances weren't created. Got a good team and decent squad with the Ameobis and B.Arfa on bench, Saylor not playing etc (you'll miss Ba though when he's on international duty, he's a good player him). Shocker of a challenge from Cabaye though marred the game, was ****ing brutal, we all saw it from half way up The Kop so how the hell the ref missed it I'll never know. Spearing will be black and blue when he wakes up after a few run ins with the wall that is Tiote and Cabayes assault but thought he put in a great shift today, never shirked a single challenge and deserves a mention for his balls out attitude. Skrtels clearance was pretty damn good too <laugh> was a close one that.

Bellamy was my MOTM, not only for the goals but as always for his work-rate and gritty performance but ultimately it was Gerrards introduction that changed the course of the game. Great to see him back now can he stay fit? We won't miss Suarez quite as much if Gerrard can keep up that sort of level.

Good game good game <ok>

knew it would all come apart at xmas lol!

LOL wow really that is the worst attempt at an attack on a rival team in the history of the internet!
Berbs can you take this young lady under your wing and teach her how it is done :D

Guthrie always gives his all and has put in some very good performances, but I think Tiote in form is better. He just needs to find that form this season.

I think we need to look for a RW instead of Obertan, a LB with Santon at RB, a CB to cover Saylor this season and provide competition next season (also as a replacement for Colo eventually, expect him to leave in the next couple of seasons), and cover up front.

I really hope we go in for Hoillet, though I don't think we will. There was a rumour I think but not heard much of it for a while. I don't think we'll attempt to buy him but I think we should at least attempt to get him on a pre contract agreement and get him free in the summer. Or Barnetta, either one. Drenthe would also be quite good. Real don't want him, Everton can't afford his wages, I reckon we could come in with a sneaky offer in the summer.

At the minute, our right side is definitely the worst, and it's showing.

It'll be interesting if you get rid of him in terms of who you get in as a replacement and how he does at what you would assume would be a club fighting for a CL spot in the PL. You'll have a reputation of being shrewd operators (even more so than now) if Tiote failed as badly as Carroll has (so far).

Have to say for all the criticism of your right side I thought it was your left side we were having most joy down in the first half until Taylor went off, then things started coming down the left side more. Offensively though your right side was pretty poor, I think Obertan was a pretty poor purchase all things considered, but you can't really complain when you got such great value in Cabaye and Ba in the same transfer window.

Good game good game <ok>

About time you made a decent post to live up to your vote. <ok>

Night all, thanks for the chat, despite my hatred for the team you Liverpool fans seem a decent bunch <ok>.

We have some top players and some who arnt quite good enough at top level ( CL class ), we just need to add the the top class bunch

Top Players - Reina,Enrique,Gerrard,Agger,Bellamy,Suarez,Lucas ( sorry chaps hes a lot better than Tiote, IMO)

ps. Steven was f**kin immense 2nite

Well that was worth getting up very early for! What a dissapointment Newcastle, were. So intent on packing their defence that they hardly existed as an attacking force. Let's leave aside 2 assaults that were worthy of red cards (retrospectively).

Great to see Gerrard both get a goal and inspire the attack with his crosses/passes. Carroll did improve as the match progressed and deserved a goal himself. I hope that we don't fall into the Newcastle trap when we visit City. Still a great way to end 2011

Really happy with the result. That extra touch of class going forward really did it for us.

Imagine if we had Gerrard in those draws. The amount of games we have played well but not got the points is mad.

I know we are a pessimistic bunch/"deluded" but if we had just a couple more wins then we'd be right up there!

Oh well time to start notching up the wins. This is a great boost and will help fill the hole left by Suarez - great the media focuuss is now away from negative too.

Suarez coming back late into the season (depending on when the ban lands) could also be very usefull on deciding where we finish.

Still think we need one more up front, but we're pretty close to being a good team!

Good result last night, we almost proved that we are still a one man team. Gerrard absolutely bossed the field yesterday taking full control and responsibility. In all seriousness though I think Spearing coved Lucas' position brilliantly and Henderson has proved yet again that he is good enough, his through ball to Gerrard is just a snap shot of his great vision.

Yup Spearing did the business. I think we should focus on another striker rather than cover for Lucas. I was worried about Henderson as I didn't really know anything about him. But he's proved me wrong and I think he has a good future with us.
