I hope you don't mind me topping this thread, but I got Fifa 12 for Christmas. Quite good, although I'm not very good. Won my first game at home to Leicester in the Carling Cup, which was like my fifth game, having lost my entire pre-season and drew the first league game of the season to Forest! Bizarrely, Southampton tried to sign Hayden Mullins from me! Anyone else get it for Christmas?
Had it since release dat. Just finished a first season with Saints. Came second by goal difference in the end despite me and West Ham leading by 9 points with 5 games left. However the 5 remaining teams were all around the play offs and ended up with one win, 3 defeats and one draw :/ Still, got promoted and have bought Maynard (after selling Sharp for one goal since January) and Andy King and Matty Phillips.
Well done on getting promoted. Southampton are in the play offs in mine I think, or just below. I think I'm getting slightly better defensively, although I still don't get the doubling up on something thing (forgotten which button it is). Only conceed about one goal a game now, except for when I lost 2-1 to Leeds in stoppage time, that wasn't great! Even managed to beat Villa away in the league cup. In terms of signings I signed Sears from West Ham and a few other young players. No-one spectacular but I just need strength of depth so when my first team players get tired or injured, I don't have to bring in my youth players. Saying that Williams has lots of potential according to that website which was posted earlier. Also sold Liam Lawrence. I like the youth academy thing. I signed up a few players from Ghana. One player has potential between 71 and 92 or something. So hopefully he should at least be good enough for the first team! Probably closer to 71 than 92 though, aha. Does their actual ability increase during their time in the youth academy or does it only begin to increase when they sign a professional contract? That might sound a bit of a stupid question.
The longer you leave them in the academy the smaller the gap between their current level of ability becomes until you eventually get a precise number, however other clubs can nick your academy players so its a game of risks but they only properly improve once they're professional!
Thanks! So their actual ability doesn't increase while in the academy, but over time you'll get a better understanding of their exact current ability? Is there any advantage of keeping them in the academy once they can turn professional? As presumably once they turn professional, you'll find out their exact ability and you'll have a vague idea of their potential ability from the academy, and then they can start increasing their current ability? While if they stay in the academy, their current ability won't increase, you'll just get a better idea of what it is?
Held my own in the Prem for first season finishing 8th Might leave FIFA for a month or so to concentrate on my Football Manager career
Yeah you've got the idea, only advantage of keeping them in the academy is that you won't have to shell out on a big contract unless you know the players going to be quality/is quality.
Hey guys. I completely h2h seasons on main account went something like 60-15-5. I disconnected 3 times so I only lost twice. Anyway, recently I've been playing a on a new account. I scored with Kelvin Davis today! I was 5-1 up. 4 goals from Rickie, 1 from Connolly playing against a team called Palmeiras. He hit a long ball and I brought Kelvin out. Kelvin took a touch edge of box and I decided to take the piss and do a goalie run. I ended up beating6 of his players and slamming it in the bottom corner lolool!!!!! Funniest moment of fifa ever. The guy had 8 wins, 2 losses prior to this as well. So funny. He rage quit instantly of course. Gonna play with Saints til I win div 1 hopefully. Any of you play clubs?
I'm like 12-3 on it or something? Division 7 maybe? Waiting until I'm back at Uni to play some more because the connection at home is horrendous. Think I've been a different team every time, that's my favourite thing about new FIFA, you're against an evenly matched team so you don't need to contend with playing against Barcelona every game. 5 star teams are so boring.

Missed out on the play offs on goal difference! Considering my awful start to the season, that's not too bad. Got a few nice players from my youth academy. Unfortunately no-one will take them out on loan which is annoying. In other news, Ryan Williams has disappeared. His contract ran out and I was going to re-sign him as he was unattached, then during negotiations he must have been deleted from the database as I got a reply but it was from no-one. Also typing in his name, he doesn't appear in the player search. Has that happened to anyone else? It's quite annoying as he has good potential and is from our academy! Though I've signed Andros Townsend from Tottenham, and trying to sign a defender from Germany called Neuer I think.
Nope never had that problem.. I always try an tie up players contracts ASAP if I take over a new team But never negotiate contracts during transfer widow does coz if player refuses then tons of clubs bid and makes the player likely to become unsettled and want to leave
