Just seen Gollivan on SSN saying that Allardyce has identified 25 potential January targets. So this raises two questions. How many of those 25 are currently wearing red and white stripes and how many of them are on our list too?

I'm not suggesting for one moment that my first point is a potential threat to us as I don't think anyone's head would be turned or that we'd sell but if Rickie wasn't number one on that least I would be extremely surprised. As for my second point, someone on here said that we already lost out on Sam Baldock to West Ham so do you think Sharp, Maynard and other much discussed targets are on the list or is Sam fishing in a different pond?

May have 25 targets but he won't get all of them. Some are bound to be the same as us because both teams will be looking at the best available. In Nigel's latest interview on Player, he said yes we are looking to bring some players in in the January window and no we are not looking to sell. Sam would only want our top players and no way would they be sold to our nearest rival. Doubt he would even ask as a smack in the mouth often offends. Our wage structure will stop us competing with West Ham, but they won't hoover up everybody, and even if we got 'second best' those players would be better for being 'Adkinised'.

With a debt at the beginning of the season of 120m, not sure how Big Sam expects anyone arriving unless he shifts a good number of the highly paid no hopers he inherited and subsequently bought a few more to add to the massive wage bill

You've got to remember that at the beginning of the season West Ham were probably a safer bet for promotion than us, so some players might pick them. But after seeing the first half of the season I don't think the choice between us and West Ham would be so clear cut for a lot of players.
