One game doesn’t make you world beaters and another doesn’t make you crap. It’s about working things out sometimes. City had a terrible run in last season but found a way at the end. England very unlikely to win the World Cup but there have been poor performances all over the place from the “ fancied” teams. Better to learn things out now before the knockout stage.

I’ve learnt that Newcastle have had Barca's pants down.

100% agree...esp the last bit....imagine paying that money for a lad who was underwhelming for Newcastle. He's a great athlete presses and covers defence well but behind all our other wing options where technique is concerned

What I don't get is they could have signed Rashford who is twice the player and for a third of the price.

yep absolutely staggered more hasn't been made of it, other way round that's leading all news channels and the referees parentage is being questioned in parliament
It was obviously a pen and wtf were VAR doing, its their one job. Shearer etc didn't mention it either despite the rest of the world shouting "that's a penalty".

Agree with the rest of your post, but, what is there still for Tuchel to learn at this stage?

Fair play to Ghana, they did a Sergej's City at Wembley on us. We had our 'Ollie McB' moment but this time Kane fluffed it. We really should have been capable of carving out a few more chances though during the 4 quarters.

Yep. Very frustrating night. Re learning. Rethinking of starting line ups for a start. Better instructions around facing the low block and how to get round this issue. Basically what they need to look at in training.
But yes it’s an issue but can always learn,

Agree, can always learn.
But, surely by now he'd / they'd know all about facing a low block, and also team selections.
Not meaning to be argumentative. I guess I just think that Ghana played their tactical game very well, and we weren't good (brave, urgent) enough

Thomas Tuchel: "Of course, there are rules within the tournament, but still, calling for a water break when it's raining and the weather is 19 degrees sounds a bit strange. In general, I prefer to watch football in two uninterrupted halves."

It didn't stop the players crowding around him after 20 or so minutes for an unofficial water break?

I don't think he's sussed out his best 11 yet?

Yeah happy to agree with that. Ghana got it right.

They’ve had rashford and didn’t like him?
And see something we havent
As yet, fingers crossed,
In Clare balding
I can only assume its more to do with attitude than talent.

The big shame of this world cup for me, is that in a normal world cup, that last Ghana Croatia game would be an absolute belter if only the top 2 went up, Croatia needing to go all out for a win to qualify and Ghana needing a point, as it is a point will mean both will likely progress and even if Croatia win, a small defeat by 1 goal and Ghana will likely progress too in 3rd, it's just demeaned the whole ****ing group stage

Didn’t see their first game to be fair, just cautious as don’t think I’ve ever seen us get 9 points in a group , there’s nearly always a crap draw thrown in somewhere

You called it

It's a shame Ghana nicked their game against Panama right at the death, if they'd needed to score last night we'd have beaten them comfortably I feel

You can't do much against a low block executed well by an elite side
