Just seen an article linking Goldson with a switch to Tottenham (http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/4009308/Tottenham-to-join-Gold-rush.html)

Fits with what turner said about all those prem scouts at our games!

By my reckoning, that's Bradshaw (West Ham), Goldson (Spurs), Gornell (Leeds) and Ainsworth (Stoke mainly, but just about every L1+CH side under the sun)all targeted by bigger clubs according to the media.

Sign of a good squad?
 
i think uncle rowland would take 250k each as well. rumour has it he has been on to tanners to double his christmas drinks order.
 
I think any transfer should include sell-on clauses, if only we'd have had 10-20% written in on the Hart deal. Nevertheless, I'm sure all this (alledged) interest in our current crop of players is a positive. We've got a good side with plenty of youth running through it. Not only that, but these young lads also have plenty of league experience too. A combination any worthy manager would be attracted to..
 
Trouble is our current squad (and their potential futures) could be death by Agent if they ruin things in January.
 
Most of these rumours are pie in the sky and are often started by agents to try and force better deals. Interesting that none of the four players mentioned are currently guaranteed a place in the first team so why would they be targetted by clubs from higher divisions?

I recognise that, but there is usually some kind of substance to these rumours - even is it's just a scout from Cardiff spotted at a game, for example.

All are young players, capable of going to a higher level, and Ainsworth and Gornell would make most people's first team at the moment I'd have thought. We do have a strong squad at the moment in fairness, quite a small one, but one with quality players like Wallace not even making the squad.
 
Some players are hardly a shoo-in for the first team but could flourish higher up. Why did we raise our game against the Gooners? Better players work best in better leagues, rather than League 2 where hoofball is the name of the game.
 
just the gooners? what about man u, wolves, derby swansea and boro to come. pity we did not raise our game at southend, shots and gas to name 3
 
An interesting comment from Manfeelings about hoofball - I would say that , in fifty years of supporting Town in the lower leagues, I have never seen so many teams trying to play passing football. The better pitches and the influence of the foreign coaches and players have all played their part. My point about the four players mentioned was that none of them have yet cemented themselves fully into a guaranteed first team place. If they are to be destined for greater things (like Hart and Edwards and going back further Pearson, Ian Atkins and Griffiths) then surely they need to be fully established in our best team first.
