The Golden Boot is fascinating. Messi is ahead but Mbappe, Kane and Haaland are in the chasing pack. They all play in attack minded teams so it's going to be a helluva contest.
The BBC droning on about how wonderful this World Cup is with goalscoring records tumbling left, right and centre.

Yes, you tossers, because ‘ackney marsh level teams are now playing against the world’s elite.

Who would have thought that Messi, Mbappe, and Haaland could score against Senegal, Iraq and Algeria ?

The W/C in reality starts after the first knockout round. So whoever is ahead in the Golden Boot then will be favourite. And Lyndon Dykes is still to enter the fray.

And now Ronaldo enters the game with two goals against the mighty Uzbekistan.

Hopefully Kane can knock a couple more in tonight.

There isn't much else to talk about at such a bloated tournament - which doesn't get down to serious football business until the round of 16, which is still what, a fortnight away?

By that time, with over 80 games played, millions of viewers will be footballed out.

Imo once you get to the last group games it ALMOST becomes knockout.
That aside, it seems to be very enjoyable for fans as a holiday.

Would you start Bellingham?
He’s very overrated in my opinion. One good game in four for England and acts like the world owes him something most of the time. You can see why he was out of favour for a while. Needs to start performing like Mbappe, Yamal and even an aging Messi if he wants to be considered world class. At the moment he’s just another bog-standard English under-achiever.

Must admit I only watched the first 15 minutes of the England Ghana game.
Thought we looked reasonably bright, and just assumed the goals would follow.

I watched the Argentina game simply because of Messi. His reading of the game is uncanny. Different type of player, but I loved watching Bobby Moore for the same reason, he knew what players were going to do before they or anyone else did. Even in his older tubbier days with Fulham he played Killer completely out of the game without breaking sweat.

We were lucky to get a point last night, seeing as Ghana should have had a pen late on. We huffed and puffed and looked slow and predictable. A poor night really.

All that positivity after Croatia has drained away. Still, a win versus the mighty Panama and we can start dreaming again.
