Revenue and FFP are irrelevant.

We can't spend more than circa £125m net in any financial year or we forfeit the terms of the stadium loans and get hit with interest rate hikes.

The current spending will be offset by player sales later in the window, there is no question about that.

I think the only other way around it is through direct capital injections by ENIC but I'm not sure if that is allowed as a covenant side-step. @PowerSpurs might know.
I don't think Capital injections make any difference.
I think you are right about sales later in the window. They have to be ones that make an accounting profit though
The obvious sources of that are Romero, Sarr, Spence, Van de Ven, plus possibly Richarlison and Vicario.
Selling Romero for £65m and Sarr for £25 million would make a £75m profit I think so would allow about £250m of additional purchases. (£50m of amortisation plus an extra £25m of wages).

It's a pretty well acknowledged tale that there's going to be a £200m cash injection from ENIC...and that we are treading a new path since Daniel was sacked.

The main (only?) impediment to spending more on transfers and wages was always Daniel. Once you've decided to do it, the rest is just admin and accountancy. He hid behind that...and it rightly cost him his job.

The Lewis family don't get told what to do by bankers...they get asked what they'd like to do.
There's little doubt that a cash injection is necessary because the football club has nowhere near enough capital to look a good risk to its bankers or even other clubs to whom we owe deferred transfer fee payments.
But banks don't look through company structures to the owners unless there are guarantees in place. The banks won't change the covenants on the stadium loans without getting something better in return.

Just me that thinks there is still a chance that Spurs sell Romero, Van de Ven and Dragusin.

That would leave Danso, Van Hecke, Senesi and Vuskovic which is ideal

With no UEFA land next season
(which too many people don't understand
is so important to squad mgmt) ,
the above could fly quite well.

Yeah I can see this happening too. This early business feels like there’s a “catch” coming very soon. The only thing that’s giving me hope is that perhaps it’s because we’re going with 3 ATB, so we need more defenders.
But knowing Tottenham, we’ll end up selling, leave ourselves short, and have made little to no loss, or even a potential profit.
It’s hard to get excited about the incomings, because many of our transfer windows have been underwhelming for one reason or another.

Because of how bad the last two seasons have been domestically, I won’t be that sad to see anyone leave. Romero and Van De Ven would obviously look better in a more organised team but if the club get good money for them then I’m not against it as long as that money goes towards a striker

There's does seem to be a trend with early moves coinciding with departures

2012: Vertonghen and Sigurdsson were done very early, Modric left
2013: Paulinho done very early, Bale left
2015: Alderweireld, Wimmer and Trippier done very early, we spent half the season putting up with Leicester fans
2016: Wanyama and Janssen done early, then the Nkoudou saga kicked off
2019: Ndombele done very early, we were lumbered with Ndombele
2022: Perisic, Bissouma and Richarlison in very early, Conte's season-long meltdown kicked off
2023: Maddison and Vicario in very early, Kane left
2024: Bergvall* and Gray in very early, injuries blighted the season
2025: Kudus in early, time to test Not606's character limit to describe everything after that...

He’s gonna go isn’t he…..

£45m is too cheap though hope we stand our ground on this one and get a big sell on clause.

He’s probably gonna end up going for huge huge money in a few years if he’s as good as the hype around him.

Spurs should demand at least £60million plus a sell on fee imo.

He’s on a long contract so regardless of what he wants, the club has the power here.

This isn't you going down to the bank to renegotiate your mortgage with no added security. This is the owners of Tavistock making a much needed commercial investment in their most valuable asset.

This isn't COYS Daniel's market stall anymore. The financially big boys and girls are in charge now...and the super-rich write their own rules.

A little sugar and some additional security...and "Hey Presto!!". What was said, by some, to be impossible, is miraculously turned into players on the pitch.

The days of Mr Micawber are over. Thank ****!

If this happens I will be delighted to be proved wrong

So to sum up this morning's big rumour...

"Tottenham in contact over Adam Wharton"

Hopes raise

"...according to TEAMtalk"

Hopes throw their hands in the air, swear louder than they realised, and know for a fact their neighbour's kids will be using at least one of those words in the school playground Monday

Possibly/ probably but I’m pretty relaxed over it.

Sure, he could be a great CB but there’s no guarantee. He looked awful against England (granted, can’t judge on one game but his “chasing back” for Jude’s goal was comical, never realised he was that slow) and despite a strong season for HSV, there were some critics over certain aspects of his game.

Right now we have 4 better CBs than Vuskovic too; Romero, van de Ven, Senesi and van Hecke, arguably 5 with Danso. Even though we’re likely to lose Romero, I think we’ve still got some excellent depth at CB, all of whom have proven themselves in this league too. If someone said to me right now would I have rather not signed Senesi or van Hecke to ensure a path for Vuskovic, I’d have rejected it, we needed immediate quality and we’ve gotten it.

If Brighton can give us £50m+ and ideally a sell on percentage, I’d consider it excellent business considering he’s yet to kick a ball for us.
