Only watched first 20 minutes but England looked decent in that period with the high press.... also surprised by how Gordon has developed as a winger, hardly saw any Premier League football last season, so had no idea what he was like, can see why Barcelona have shelled out for him, although don't know how he'll fit into their style of play....

England won't begin their World Cup Group L campaign until next Wednesday, when they take on Croatia in their opening group game. Scotland get their Group C campaign under way in the early hours of Sunday morning against Haiti.

For all the groups, fixtures, results and everything you need to know head here.

Any streams out there for Korea v Czechia? They don't have cable here in Vancouver where we are staying.
Tried FawaNews for this match, but couldn't navigate past the betting sites. Match almost over now, currently 1-1. With our Cable back home, this would not have been a problem.
Now 2-1 Korea, deservedly so it would appear.

I started my first job in August 1970, my wage was £11 per week which was good for a 16 year old. The average wage then was around £25 per week. So the equivalent now for that £250 would be about £5,000 based on average wages now which would barely get you to your overpriced hotel let alone the travelling around for each match or the tickets. It just shows how low key things were back then. Does anyone remember the 1962 World Cup? I don't think any of the matches were shown on TV less some grainy black & white newsreel pictures. 1966 was really the start of televised World Cups and 1970 really saw it take off. Anyone going on that advertised trip would have had a great time...

1954 was the start of television widely broadcasting the World Cup, apparently.

I remember Dad getting in a smallish black & white TV for the 1966 World Cup and what a ride that was for a 12 year old (now old fart Kiwi). In the Final, when we were 3-2 up I was so stressed that I had to go for a walk around Winchester Gardens in Andover, Hampshire, a cul-de-sac where we lived in a former Mayor's house that my Grandfather, a master carpenter & home builder built, and all the other quality homes in the Gardens, that according to Google Street View are all still standing. When I returned from my walk of solitude, we immediately scored the 4-2 winner.
