Tomorrow sees the final performance of Richie Ramone's 53rd & 3rd, at The Fiddler's Elbow in Camden. He's a top, top bloke and has put heart, soul and a lot of cash into it, so if you're in the vicinity...come and see them, honestly you won't be disappointed.

Having a blast in Glasgow. Spent this morning in Kelvingrove museum. Really interesting place. Saw a fabulous Salvador Dali, a decent Van Gogh and Monet. Also an Irish Deer skeleton - ****ing enormous creature that died out in the ice age. Huuuuge!

A McTazzos giros pitta from just outside the museum (delicious) and a slice of really dark ginger cake. Watched a Calleigh and after a ' 'little sleepy' a pre-gig 'wet' and then out in the weather, which to be fair has been 'drek', but no worse!!!

Sorted out a shwarma place on the way home...where we're booked into the honeymoon suite of The Argyll Hotel, which is properly luxurious and only £10 more than where the peasants sleep.

Properly buzzing for tonight's gig!!!

Come on onnnnn!!!

It fecking pissed down for the entire gig.still, with pvc gear and ponchos, we were only partially soaking wet.

A ver decent performance from the boys, in difficult conditions for all. Mrs B got a set list and a Paul Gray plectrum.

For the first time in decades, I pissed in an empty plastic cup and poured it down a rain gulley, rather than trudge to the loos and back. Oh well, these things happen... :emoticon-0138-think

Don't make it a habit. The cabin crew on the flight home won't be impressed! <laugh>

...I thought it was crushing disappointment. It turned out to have been utter jealousy.

A view from the back of the venue. I can just make out my head above those assembled at the front (right) just before the stage 'roof' support pillar.

Even Scots had to admit it was WET and some even carried umbrellas. I did not know they were available up there.

I spent yesterday evening at a showing of 'Are They Hostile?' at the David Lean Cinema in Croydon.

After the showing, we all lamented the passing of venues like The Star:

The Cartoon, The Red Deer, etc.

There's nowhere left. The whole of South London is a desert for venues. There's The New Cross Inn, Brixton Academy, The Hootenanny, Fighting Cocks in Kingston...a d that's about it. There's more venues in a 5 minute walk of Camden Town Station.

Terrible. We're going to form a Trust to try and improve things and get a venue to open up to new acts. If not, petty soon, there will be nowhere left.

Is the Three Rabbits in Stratford still going ? I saw a lot of pub rock bands there, I think it was in a road called the Warren

I went to the Greyhound a number of times that felt like the end of the world on a trip from Watford in a beaten up Mk 2 cortina

Ah yes, the days of 'going towards' places, as opposed to 'going to' places. My mate Giles had a Mk II Cortina that involved a lot of 'travelling in hope', but a whole lot less arriving.

The Mk 2 was a project, I had it bored out to 1750cc, hi lift cam , twin 40 dcoe webers, lowered, 6j rims and 185x 14 tyres , had it resprayed and it was beautiful until I had it nicked while I was at a Spurs match , stolen from Pretoria road off WHL and found 2 days later stripped in an industrial estate near Clapton, it broke my heart

There was a Cortina MK II 3.0 litre Essex V6 which produced 218 bhp and was as fast as an E-Type from 0-60.
Anyway, enough of this nonsense.
To keep this on (Ford Cortina) topic, somebody needs to post “Saturday’s Kids” by The Jam.
Stains on the seats, in the back of course.

Most likely a jeff Uren Savage, very fast in a straight line but handled like a tea trolley cornering
They made some great cars, I always lusted after the Mk 1 Escort Navajo

TRB - Grey Cortina

Wish I had a grey cortina
Whiplash aerial, racing trim
Cortina owner - no one meaner
Wish that I could be like him

Twin exhaust and rusty bumper
Chewing gum at traffic light
Stop at red but leave on amber
Grey Cortina outa sight

Wish I had a grey Cortina
Whiplash aerial, racing trim
Cortina owner - no one meaner
Wish that I could be like him

Furlined seats and lettered windscreen
Elbow on the window sill
Eight track blazing Brucie Springsteen
Bomber jacket, dressed to kill

Wish I had a grey Cortina
Whiplash aerial, racing trim
Cortina owner - no one meaner
Wish that I could be like him

Never cop a parking ticket
Never seem to show its age
Speed police too slow to nick it
Grey Cortina got it made

Wish I had a grey Cortina
Whiplash aerial, racing trim
Cortina owner - no one meaner
Wish that I could beeeeee like him
