Do they really need a highlights show? I’m sure highlights of each game will be available on iPlayer or ITVX pretty much straight away for people to watch at their leisure.

There’s so many quicker and easier ways to get highlights now that one day it will probably make match of the day obsolete. People get their football highlights and news etc in so many different ways nowadays.
I was hoping it would put Richard Madeley off air for a month

Yeah I haven’t watched motd for a few years now. Probably to do with Spurs being crap but it feels outdated when you can easily see goals on your phone as they go in.

It's difficult because the US has politicised the World Cup. We have to take care to have our political debates off this thread.
Thank you

So ITV's coverage of the opening match begins ten minutes before kickoff, so pretty much the second it starts you're already into the national anthems

Something tells me this won't be the case for England games...
Sounds perfect to me. Does anyone even want to listen to the rubbish pre/post match and half time waffle?

Turn on at kick off, watch or do something else at half time, change channel or tv off straight after the match.

Yeah it’s hugely, I was just commenting on why the ref hasn’t been allowed into the US.

Luke thinks it was the wrong decision, I’m not so sure. Imagine they let him in and he did something. Would be uproar

The Somalian ref was denied because he has links with terror groups. Right decision if so. You can’t just let people in just because they’re a ref. Everyone is subject to the same laws and rules
I think you'll find that 'links' is doing a lot of heavy lifting there. Previous examples used by the US authorities have included distant relations and associates of friends.
If US authorities are going to use that excuse then there will be numerous examples from other countries which they will have to treat the same way.

And they have had months to get the referees lists supplied by FIFA - and I'm sure that Somalia would have been top of the list for checking seeing as Trump has a personal Vendetta with that country.

My immediate thought

...okay, my second thought, as the first was "What a load of utter bollocks", was this sounds uncannily like the BBC pulling that documentary as the narrator had links to Hamas - while not mentioning those "links" were they were the child of somebody who works for the Hamas-run health ministry, which is like saying LadyC has links to Labour as she works for the NHS

I don’t know the extent of the links but there must be a reason behind it.

I know some Scottish fans had their esta visa thing changed from approved to pending in the last week. They must be receiving new information.

They spot check social media. Don’t do it to everyone on an ESTA but it can happen. I had friends who were concerned about it when they came over last summer. No problems in the end even though one of them posts a lot of anti-Trump stuff on twitter.

I have asked that political debates/comments are placed on the politics thread. Mixing the politics with the football debate will be a problem for some of our posters. Just take your comments and debates to the politics thread leaving posters with a choice to get involved or not.

Thanks

Spot checking social media??

That rustling sound you just heard was Orwell turning in his grave.
