Back to the Pearson era it seems, recruiting from L1…
We’re not likely to be buying Championship standard players (unlike our competitors) and paying those wages while Lansdown holds the budget I’m afraid

New roles at the club have been filled with seemingly competent people who will be asked to run the club on a shoestring as usual and yet achieve success !

Name some Championship players we’ve signed that are great.
I bet you can name more League one players that have gone onto better than the championship (or even prem, remember that donkey from Bolton?)
I will start you off. Albert Adomah but he came two divisions below us. V Armstrong a championship players.

The bloke who I think is passed his sell by date still puts multi millions into the club every season to allow us some trading.

He sells up, we are still only allowed to spend x amount. All loopholes seem to be closed now.

It’s now we can only spend (including wages) 85% of our revenue. With SL topping up something like £15 million a year but £33 over rolling 3 year. Can anyone find someone everyone will be happy to fund that.

It’s not as simple as going out spending £10 million on a player you’ve still got to pay that player over 3 - 4 years eating into that 85%

also not as simple as just paying out £10m for a player and his wages there is also agent fee's to condider and what chunk of the cover all insurance plan he absorbs!

not sure how it works regarding NI payments ....would think if on contract he will be SE!!!???

Sam Bell latest as Michael Skubala and James Ellis share stance on forward's Bristol City future

Sam Bell is one of four Bristol City players set to be out of contract this summer alongside Mark Sykes, Sam Morsy and Harry Cornick

I read in the overnight gossip coulumn that Man Utd are prepared to off-load 2 goalies including Radek Vitek and I wonder whether we will step up and offer him a 2 year contract with future clauses. Perhaps he wants higher football than Championship and so the offer would have to be good including possibly sell on clauses. He impressed us all last season but maybe the antics during the transfer window of selling our best players and not replacing them in any form may have left questions about our commitment to the future. Perhaps the Turkish player who is leaving with him may be a candidate. :emoticon-0125-mmm:

Mark Sykes one of three Bristol City players to depart Ashton Gate as contract calls confirmed

"Everyone at Bristol City would like to thank Mark, Harry and Sam for their effort and commitment"

Not sure how true this is, but if we’re going to sign young up and coming players from L1, may as well go for the best last season.
