The house opposite me, which is probably separate flats, has a Japan flag in the ground floor window and a LGBT flag on the first floor. Second to fourth floors no flags at all which is most disappointing.
I'm sure the vast majority of people who put up England flags are just average England supporters and neither rabid far right supporters or cretinous far left supporters who would rather fly the Palestinian flag and wear a keffiyeh.
There are thousands of people in London who will be putting up their country of origin's flag as they are proud of it rather than treating it as something they've just trodden in. I've already seen a Brazilian and Polish flag in our street so there will be quite a selection by kick off. The one thing sport can definitely do without and that is politics...
but your ok wit Palestine flags everywhere typicalYou're rather missing my point. People putting up England flags (or flags of other Nations) on their own property to show support for their football team is perfectly fine with me - in fact we normally do it ourselves. What I'm objecting to is the illegal campaign that started last year to raise flags on lampposts and other public property. This wasn't about supporting a team, it was plainly designed to intimidate immigrants, asylum seekers and ethnic minorities in general. I don't want to be associated with that.

The US Sun Editor-at-Large Harry Cole unleashes on the UK Labour government, which has called for calm amid fears the murder of Henry Nowak will be politicised.
WARNING: Graphic
A man has been arrested and another left with serious injuries after a sickening knife attack in Northern Ireland on Monday.
Graphic mobile phone footage showed the offender straddling the bloodied victim’s chest and hacking at his neck as bystanders scream “he’s trying to cut his head off”.
A man has been arrested and another left with serious injuries after a horror knife attack in north Belfast on Monday.
“He’s just killed him, hurry up!” a man says in the video.
As the victim struggles weakly to get away, the attacker raises what appears to be a small knife in the air screams something unintelligible in a foreign language.
“Get off him ya f**kin rat!” a woman yells.
The attacker then takes the knife to the man’s throat in front of the horrified witnesses as the victim groans.

“He’s trying to cut his head off! Hurry up! He’s slicing his head off!” the man says.
Bystanders rush in and attempt to overpower the attacker, with one yelling “kill him!”
The sound of something metal can be heard hitting the ground as another local rushes in and begins whacking the offender in the head with a hurling stick.
The attacker falls to the ground but refuses to release the victim from the headlock.
Another bystander kicks the offender in the head before police arrive at the scene and rush into the commotion.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland confirmed one man was in custody.
“Police in north Belfast are currently in attendance at Kinnaird Avenue following the report of a stabbing incident shortly after 10.30pm on Monday June 8,” police said in a statement.
“A man has been arrested in relation to the incident and is in police custody while a second man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.”
Officers will remain at the crime scene and have asked for witnesses or anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage of the incident to come forward.

Right-wing firebrand Tommy Robinson shared the video on X where it has been viewed nearly half a million times, writing, “Horrific scenes in North Belfast tonight as an invader was caught trying to behead a man in the middle of the street!”
Police are yet to announce any charges and have not released the name or immigration status of the alleged offender.
The shocking attack comes in the wake of the brutal stabbing murder of 18-year-old student Henry Nowak by Sikh man Vickrum Digwa in the southern city of Southampton last December.

Digwa, 23, was jailed for life with a minimum of 21 years after he was found guilty late last month following a two-week trial in Southampton Crown Court.
Harrowing bodycam footage released last week showed Hampshire Police officers arresting and handcuffing the teen as he bled to death, after the killer and his family members falsely accused the student of a racially motivated attack.
The footage sparked violent riots in Southampton on Tuesday that left 11 police officers injured, and fuelled fierce debate over alleged “two-tier policing” in the UK that critics claim favours ethnic minorities over white people.
Fourteen people have since been charged with violent disorder.

The high-profile case has sparked a diplomatic row between the UK’s left-wing Labour government and the Trump administration in the US.
“Henry Nowak died the same way a civilization dies: abandoned, handcuffed by authorities who neither trusted nor cared for him, and accused of hate crimes he did not commit,” Vice President JD Vance wrote on X over the weekend.
“His murder is as tragic as it is enraging. He should still be alive today, and he would be if the last few generations of European elites had stood their ground against the politics of self-hatred and the mass invasion of migrants, many of whom despise the West and the people who love it.
“Henry was far from the first to so needlessly lose his life, and I fear he won’t be the last. Each time a life like his is lost, the proper response – the only response – is righteous anger.
“One of the most important things the Trump administration has proven to the world is that stopping the flow of mass migration and defending national sovereignty is a matter of political will and leadership. Anything else is an excuse.”
A spokesman for UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer hit back at “people trying to interfere in our democracy and seeking to stir up division”.

The Downing Street spokesman added that the Nowak family has “said they do not want his death to be used to create further division”.
“Our politics should bring people together even in the most terrible of circumstances,” the statement said. “That is who we are as a country.”

It's kicking off everywhere now...we have a Holiday Inn in town that is full of immigrants, drove past on way to a gig tonight, and there were cars and police all over the place, and more there when we came home. Seems like all the local rednecks came out in force....if you need a translator, just ask!!

Giving the MoD loads of money to commission aircraft carriers which are unable to leave dock and armoured vehicles which cook their occupants does seem a bit self defeating though. Even if funded it looks unlikely that enough people actually want to join the armed services anyway, though yet more unemployment might help.John Healey resigns as Defence Secretary over budget cuts and says Starmer is leaving our forces in danger. The shambles in Downing Street continues...

I like Greenock, been there many times when staying in Gourock. You may joke, but we get about 100 massive cruise ships in every year.
Cruise Ship Arrivals in Greenock
Greenock's Ocean Terminal is a significant cruise destination in Scotland, welcoming a substantial number of cruise ships each year.
Annual Ship Arrivals
Most of them jump on buses up to Loch Lomond or over to Edinburgh, but a fair few go around the town. Always reminds me of the scene in Trainspotting with the American at the Fringe getting assaulted and robbed by Sick Boy and Renton! There's an Aldi and a Lidl right near the Ocean Terminal and all the Philipino crew are always in loading up with cheap booze and chocolate
- Typical Range: Up to 100 cruise ships dock at Greenock annually.
- Record Year: In 2023, Greenock saw over 150,000 passengers from various cruise ships.
