Pretty sure he was 3rd choice last season so there is no reason to believe that won’t be the case this time. But who are we going to get to sign on as a second choice who might never play?
He was second choice for most of last season.

True, but McCarthy won't be back next season so he'll probably be second choice again with one of our younger keepers as third choice. I don't see us bringing in another keeper.

2nd choice GK is a tricky spot to fill. Hopefully it doesn’t matter and Peretz stays injury free, but if not, we’d be back to having one of the worst GKs in the league again. So I hope you’re wrong and we bring in a new GK as no.2 but maybe someone who we hope develops into competition, like Pierce Charles. Though he may prefer being first choice and playing at a lower level for his development.

I'd rather spend the money on other positions. Charles will cost upwards of 5mill I would imagine and we shouldn't be spending that on a backup player.

Agree, we shouldn’t and wouldn’t spend that much on a no.2. I assumed he’d cost about £1m. Contract up next year too and will be on peanuts. You’d think we’d be a fairly attractive option for him, particularly whilst his brother is here too. But will depend how much importance he places on playing, he’s still very young for a GK and of course, how much Sheff Weds are demanding for him.

Wasn't aware his contract was up next season. So maybe not 5mill then. Even so, he'd want to be loaned back out so he can play.

Do people mainly suggest Charles because of Shea Charles? Us hoping he’d be more likely to come and Shea would be more likely to stay if he did?

Bit of that from me at least. I also don’t know of too many GKs that are likely available this summer that tick all the boxes, and in theory, he does.

There will be some mid to late 30s keeper who gets released from a PL or champ side who I’m sure will be happy being number 2. Peretz will be on decent money and we won’t want to spend too much more money in that position on the off chance he gets injured long term.

If Peretz gets a major injury then we can put it down to bad luck and look to sign someone in Jan (or later this window if it happens before the summer window shuts), probably on loan.

Maybe the plan is to keep Baz as number 2, can’t imagine he’ll have loads of teams looking to sign him and I think he’s only got a year left on his deal anyway.

So Wolves are going to have Raul Jimenez and Kieran Trippier in this League next season, add that to Adarma who despite seeming iffy at times can still easily knock in 20 goals at this level.

Quite an old team but one that can still be a menace.

On the number 2 GK position, would we have extended/triggered the extension on Ollie Wright’s contract if we didn’t think he might be able to fill the role?
Player of the season when on loan at Accrington Stanley and, iirc, they had 12 clean sheets in the season, so maybe the coaches want to take a look at him in preseason, before signing someone else.

They’re gonna be right up there ain’t they! They seem the best of the teams coming down for me & a shrewd manager who knows the league very well.

Got a gut feeling West Ham might struggle more than people may think. Lot of noise around the owner & so much uncertainty with finances / their recruitment hasn’t been the most inventive past few seasons (fairly obvious buys from teams going down and such). Nuno is obviously a huge asset, but it’s a more competitive league than last time he was down at this level.. (they’ll probs storm it now I’ve said this mind haha!)
