We need 2 CBs minimum. Egan isn’t premier league level, top champ yes but slow as can be. Has to be depth, Ajayi has the physicality to play it but very inconsistent. Hughes the mix of the pair but could do with a proven operator to hold his hand.

Need 2 for sure.

Think we pretty much need 1 for every position of the 11.

I’d be cautious about filling a team with ‘gems’. As our team proved this year you get a lot out of a mix of experience and untried players.
I don’t think it’s easy to do that in the premier league though without paying premiums. Unless you go for older (high wage) players like Sunderland did with Xhaka and Burnley to a degree with Walker.

Scouring the continent and Latin America for the young talents and signing a few older players who have played in the Prem will be the strategy, in my opinion.

I’d sell Famewo and maybe even Ajayi and sign two centre-backs who are better than what we currently have. Someone like Šutalo and another one with some Prem experience, ideally on a free transfer. We will probably play a back three/five a lot so having five centre-backs is a must and Egan and McNair are decent depth.

We will dip into the Africa market too I suspect. I attend 1-2 Europa Conference League matches every season and it never fails to amaze me the number of young, committed African lads playing in Georgia, Luxembourg, the French third tier, etc, etc. The cream of that crop is accessible to us I suspect.

Clough was such a complex character. Some bits were tremendous and others like this, really not pleasant at all.
His first day at Leeds was a hoot....
After the trainer told the players to gather round, Cloughie addressed the players....
"Right you lot. Get all your ferking tinpot cups, medals, and caps and put them into that ferking dustbin, because you CHEATED."

How not to start a new job...

I’d be signing Zian Flemming at Burnley. Scored goals in the PL for a poor Burnley side. Better age, can play a couple of different positions. More robust than other options linked.
Mad as it may seem that Azeez kid at Millwall might be worth a pull.

Hull City Owner Acun Ilıcalı:"Hull City are slightly over the spending cap and need to sell before July 1st to be in line with the EFL PSR rules for the season."

This makes me nervous. 'slightly'= ??

I suspect we are going to see a glut of bit part players sold for lower transfer fees before the end of the month.
That wouldn't bother me at all. But I'm just wondering how slight slightly is? I think we are allowed a £42m loss over 3 years and the accounts show loses of £18.7m and £10.2m over the last 2 years so that allows a loss of about £13m this year would have just about kept us on track. That may seem plausible, but last year's figures (-£10.2m) were after player sales of £33m. There is a figure in there last year of £29m on 'administrative expenses' which I have no idea what that is ... signings? but then we also have promotion bonuses this year top content with (and last year they were estimated at ~ £19m for frugal Sunderland and Burnley)

Our wages were probably quite high this season.

Those losses don't exclude deductions. The accounts are never a 1:1 with psr.
