Not a bad player at this level. Currently him and Archer are the only strikers on the books so it might depend on what happens with Larin and Stewart.

I don't think BBD has played as a striker for Derby. He's mainly been playing wide right. I'd prefer him not to be first choice but he might be a decent option in the squad, he can cover striker and play a lot of those roles behind the main striker. I don't think I could really argue someone like Edozie is miles ahead of him.

It's all about the finances and the outgoings really. If we could get Peretz and Larin in and extend Bree and Stewart (all those seem do-able) then we know that's a squad good enough to be at the top of the division so then it's about how much money we need to bring in and how we replace whoever goes.

Yeah I don't really see him as a proper striker but he could easily replace the role Archer had as a sort of backup wide player.

Please no.. not BBD lol

Way is see it is we’ll 100% sell Scienza & Jander (there’s too much interest unfortunately).

THB there is no guarantees. He will only go if a decent Prem side come for him imo & price is right. Absolutely no way the board will sell less than £20mill for me and not break even, he’s too valuable as a player and influence around the club. Especially with them trying to make amends, I can see them being clear to Taylor too that if we don’t receive a high enough bid then he can’t go (but can see them offering a wage increase once Rambo & few others gone).

Charles remains to be totally seen too. I think whatever happens they’ll have to extend his contract (to make his selling price go up), in which case it might be a bit “Lallana esque” with this where we think “oo maybe he’s gonna stay” and then he signs for Leeds or Rangers late in the window for more money than we expected, but the club had already prepared somewhat and replaced Jander with 2 German prospects

After the Peretz news and Larin interview I think we could be not as bad as first anticipated and will retain those 2, plus Stewart & Bree.

I’ve just got a sneaky feeling THB gonna be here next season, I don’t know what it is…..

Thing with THB is that £20m is now a profit. We have bought him for £20m 2 years ago. Think it was a 5 year contract? So basically his value is written off over 5 years - £4m a year. So now, 2 years later his value is £12m so if we sold him for £20m we actually have a paper profit.

I think that is how it works - or something similar.

Is that how it works? I’m really not clued up at all on how the ins/outs works with fees but I just assume that on the books if Saints have spent £20mill they’ll probs want £20mill back (at least)

He has 2 years left on his deal, so similar to Charles that unless he signs a new deal we’re looking at a fair bit less if we sell next summer. It’s whether we want to roll the dice on promotion this year or risk losing some of our most valuable assets for less next summer, when we also don’t have parachute payments.

I’d imagine we would take £20m for THB, I also think the only PL teams who’ll want him would be the promoted ones. Can easily see him going to West Ham.

This summer is going to be very interesting as it’s the last year of parachute payments. Do we start reducing spend to get us in line for Champ teams regular income next year if we don’t go up or still go for it trying to get promotion in an all or nothing type way? As it is SR I’d imagine it’s the latter.

You could make an argument that if we keep the recruitment team together who did a good job last summer then we could get in line financially and build a squad good enough to get out of the league even by selling half of last years side. No doubt that next years league will be far stronger and I can see West Ham, Burnley and Wolves being like Leicester/Leeds/Us when we came down and basically walking it, it’s just whether there is an Ipswich type side in the mix as well.

The thing with West Ham is they've made huge financial losses. As far back as February there were reports they'd need to raise money this summer by selling players and relegation obviously won't have improved that situation. How they manage that will be interesting.

Rangers surely won’t be able to pay what we would want for Charles

Yeah I can see SR going **** or bust on this season too.

Re the relegated sides I fancy them to be stronger than next year on the whole but with Burnley a poor managerial appointment could have them playing catch up like us this season.

I saw a table the other day showing which clubs spent the most on wages in the 24/25 season when we were relegated. I think we were bottom and West Ham were about 8th, so who knows what their financial position is like. If we had to sell a load of players, they might have a bit of a problem if their wage spend is much higher than what ours was.

Not sure I see THB going to West Ham. He will still be in contact with the lads who went last year and it seems that they want away already.. He is defo good enough for a mid table team, Brighton or similar maybe.

Only player I can 99% see leaving is Jander due to the homesick rumours in Jan and his agent whipping up interest.

Scienza I, perhaps wishfully, see staying. He's not had a lot of love in his career and getting idol status at 28 within a few months must feel bloody incredible.

I think he'll go if a PL club comes in. Pretty sure he's said he's desperate to play in the PL so if that opportunity comes up I can't see him turning it down.
