Former England captain and manager Kevin Keegan has revealed he has stage four cancer.

Stage four is the most advanced stage of cancer, and means the disease has spread to other parts of the body.

Keegan's family originally disclosed he was battling cancer in January, after the 75-year-old had "further evaluation of ongoing abdominal symptoms" in hospital.

The football world has since rallied around the two-time European footballer of the year, who has been undergoing treatment in recent months.

An awful disease, praying he finds peace.

Never had cancer involved in my life at all until last year, one mate fortunately made a recovery, the other sadly lost his battle.

Here’s hoping things can be as comfortable for him as possible, wouldn’t wish it on anyone

He's one of the really good guys is KK. I read an article on the weekend about him actually.

He's very hopeful, and back doing the q and a stuff in front of an audience. Really hope he gets through it.

He said that the doctor had told him his chances were about 3in ten of getting through it at the start of his treatment, maybe less.

Keegan said he told the doctor that if he was a striker with that ratio he'd drop him! But he does seem to be fighting well .

Once hit me on the head with a shot when I was watching Newcastle train. I think he meant it (I did have a Sunderland scarf on at the time! ) Good luck to him excellent footballer in his day.

Being school age during the 90's, he was the bane of my bloody life. But as maturity took over I just couldnt help admiring the guy. He brought his Newcastle team over for a friendly against my local team in remembrance of the West Stanley Pit Disaster. His grandad being one of the brave rescuers.

See if you can spot him in the photo below. Despite using a 1909 camera and being a decent stones throw away, I believe its obvious......

They will but probably it will take a few more decades using modern technologies of DNA profiling and AI and the like ..in essence its your own body trying to kill you and finding something that will destroy the cancer but not kill you in the process is a tad bothersome.Humans are very clever apes and once they have found out how all the systems of the body work at a molecular level they will eventually solve the cancer problem and probably overcome the ageing process and death.Sadly though probably not even in your grandchildren lifetime,but they will eventually !

In this day and age we are merely on the cusp of understanding. These cancers can develop through hereditary,upbringing,lifestyle,environment,....no-one has yet determined. The human body is a unique thing to nearly 7 billion people....you,yourself, is the only thing you can ever truly call your own....no-one else is exactly the same,and finding cures for some,doesn't necessarily work for others.

Well,you could be right marra.....no-one knows. My take on it is we're all individuals,with our own dna, with our own bodies and brains which respond to the things they have to deal with and the circumstances they find themselves in,based on their own circumstances. Everyone deals with it....some well,some not so well.

It takes time. I've been on a breast cancer study for over 20 years now. I've sent samples off in the past and every few years, I get a questionnaire to fill in about my health and lifestyle information. Presumably it'll take the lifetimes of women to try and find patterns and then they'll have to develop preventative measures depending on their findings.
