Read somewhere that Marc Giui has been relegated to the Chelsea "bomb squad" - do you think we may be interested as a squad player? There is certainly a player in there with the right mentoring.

Agreed, didn’t think a great deal of him from what I sawWe need better in my opinion
Wouldn't be surprised to see us go big-ish on a RW. My money would be on Soule or Mbaye. Either would be ideal

That is absolutely wildAround £160m seems to be the figure being touted about as to what we could spend in this window and still be absolutely fine with SCR
Exciting stuff
That is absolutely wild
I wouldn't expect us to spend 160m without an 60-80m sale of a sadiki/roefs etc
Probably expect a similar figure next year too, if we expect our league form to drop off but we'll pick up £20-40m from the europa leagueThe money we made from our League position alone was around £170m. We are playing with the big boys now and its absolutely mint
Good post mate. Budget probably about right.I think we'll end up with 25 players. I don't expect Patto to return,Ellborg will be in. I think we may spend bigger on the centre back and left back and on the defensive midfield cover for Xhaka. I'm not sure about the right wing....we may go for a fit Traore for another year, depends whether they think Ta Bi can slot straight in. Certainly we need the striker, which is going to be the biggest spend no doubt,it'll likely be Mayenda who goes, along with Mundle.40m on a striker to likely replace one of Wilson or Mayenda ( 10/15m off the sale of either of the above )
40m on a STAR RW to be the main threat for us while the others continue to develop.
20m on a CDM to cover and compete with Xhaka
17M on Gert for RB, CB and CM cover. This give us him, Hume and O9 as utility players.
20m on a young up and coming CB to bed in over the first 6 months
15m on a LB understudy to Reinildo to bed in over the first 6 months
That has us on around 152m spend which from the sounds of it is very plausible.
Squad
GK - Roefs, Patterson and Moore as homegrown players. ( Ellborg and Young out on loan).
Defense - Gert, Hume, Mukiele, O9, Ballard, Aldarete, new CB, Reinildo and new LB.
Midfield - Ta bI, new RW, Xhaka, Sadiki, Diarra, Enzo, Rigg, new CM, Angulo, Talbi
Strikers - Brobbey, New CF, one of Wilson/Mayenda
This would be our 24 man squad. We'd still be short on players from our own academy for Europe.

My thinking with Patto is he fills a club trained spot for Europe and Ellborg gets more 1st team experience for the inevitable Roefs sale.
I think we are desperate to go big on a quality forward and RW. The winger has to be oven ready to go straight in and make a difference in the league and Europe.
150m on 6 players SHOULD add some quality to this already blossoming squad.
He might for the European adventure and if he knows he gets cup games. It would make a lot of sense. Depends on how much he wants to play and how much he believes he could challenge.Would Patterson come back and sit on the bench? I agree with your thinking behind it get Ellborg ready for first team but Patterson may want away for first team football?
Given our recent recruitment history,I'm certain quality will be added. As well as quality,we have to also ensure the dressing room togetherness is maintained...the character and disposition of any additions is as important as quality,if not more so.My thinking with Patto is he fills a club trained spot for Europe and Ellborg gets more 1st team experience for the inevitable Roefs sale.
