Yeah read that, very sad. I’d assumed with the time of year and it being reported as three young women originally that it was some pissed students who had been for a night in the city centre and were working their way back to the marina area where there’s lots of flats. Would guess one of them waded too far out after a night out and the others died trying to save her. Guessing from the article they were just down temporarily rather than living that way.

Seven men have been charged with a total of 40 offences as part of an investigation into group-based child exploitation. All seven men spoke via interpreters.

Police said the men's immigration status was "refugee". Five of the defendants entered the country on small boats, according to the police. One came to the UK concealed on a lorry and another arrived via a port.

We need to take the same line as Pakistan and actively deport Afghan nationals. Islamabad is continuing its mass expulsion of Afghans, targeting both undocumented individuals and those with temporary residency status.

  • In 2026 alone, well over 146,000 Afghans have been forced out of the country, building upon hundreds of thousands expelled since late 2023.
  • The Pakistani government maintains the expulsions are necessary to protect national security and relieve the pressure on public services and the country's fragile economy.

The prosecution have got until the 29th May to decide if they want a third retrial.

I can only assume there is stuff we don't know.

Probably demonstrates a good reason to go not guilty.
