This is nice isn't it? Having some of those nice Hull fans come over for a friendly chat. I like to think this shambles has kind of drawn us closer together in a N / S mutual respect sort of thing.
Glad they didn't catch our boy when he was spying on them too.

To be fair, it's not as if any of you are trying to condone or deny anything. You're getting ****ed around the same as the rest of us through no fault of anyone on here, and you do seem to have a good sense of humour on the whole. <ok>

They are more likely to have offered him Yorkshire tea and biscuits had they spotted him!

There's an opportunity for an entrepreneur to shift a load of binoculars to Southampton fans for the full football experience at Wembley.

Please tell me you're going to pass around some giant inflatable ones at the game.

It's screaming out for it. <laugh>
I had a brief look for some inflatable ones before the away leg but couldn't find any. Didn't look too long admittedly.

There were plenty of (what I assume were) toy ones in the away end though.

I've been suspicious of Middlesbrough's "evidence" from the beginning. The way they've been trickling evidence to friendly press, demanding Middlesbrough take Saints place in the playoff final and presenting what they have in an emotive way rather than providing a professional dossier raises too many questions.

What they really wanted was a war of words with Saints who have kept quiet and kept their powder dry throughout, refusing to play Middlesbrough's game.

Until we know Saints version of events and the panel's findings, we know nothing for sure.

One person we also haven't heard from is Will Salt himself. He is the one person in the country who knows everything.

Now Middlesbrough have become quieter. That tells me that they have nothing left to offer and have been told to shut up by their legal team.

My guess is that tomorrow, Saints will be found innocent of the worst charges, however, will be guilty of a technicality and will receive a small fine. Middlesbrough will then be censored for misrepresentating evidence and releasing it publicly before the allegations could be investigated. Hopefully the EFL will charge Middlesbrough too.
I hope they get a load more than mere censorship!!
IF we get out of this mess with at worst, a real rap on the knuckles other than disqualification because of ‘insufficient evidence’, then Boro need to take some real legal heat!!!!!!

I think the Boro claim is nonsense.
I am not sure it is total nonsense, as I dont think we would have let it get this far.

However, I think the best part of our defence is the total media blackout. The facts will come to light - silence doesnt necessarily mean guilt - this is what the media and the Boro fans are assuming.

I'm not saying we are going to say we never spied, but I think once the context and facts (not Boro speculation) comes out, we may be surprised.

Don’t want to rain on anyone’s parade, but if total nonsense it would all have been cleared up instantly. Breaking rules, but being useless, is still breaking the rules.
Yeah if there was nothing in it it wouldn't have got this far where the EFL are apparently acknowledging the risk the final may be postponed.

Pure delusion to think otherwise.

Look at the circumstantial evidence, they have a photo, a name and a use of a bank card of a Southampton staff member that proves that he was recording Boro's training that day.
Someone (or more) at the club is/are guilty and it's no point in denying that, it's all about the severity of the punishment and my feeling is that a fine and a possible smallish points deduction will be enough.
It is very possible that the guilty person(s) will recieve some sort of ban too.

I don't think they've got the bank card thing. Likely just CCTV of him using one.

You’ll need real ones if you’re in the upper tier

Is the photo positive evidence? Is it possible to prove it wasn't AI generated or Photoshopped as many clone pictures have been?

I don't think anyone on here condones it, and we certainly can't deny it (he was caught bang to rights). Once it was established the accusations were true (some of the "facts" from Boro are a bit imaginative though) the discussion has really just centred on what we see as a realistic/acceptable punishment.
Most of the initial comments have been about the embarrassment of being involved, or just plain angry with the club if they authorised it.

We know how these things go, it's football. Fans grab any opportunity to wind up the opposition, you either take it all or you fight back. The accusations get more extreme, the responses become dafter and in the end nobody believes what they are saying. It's all about getting one over your rivals.

Does Boro have any more images of Will Salt (or any other SFC employee) at their training ground?
