3 months ago labour said it was too expensive and a waste of 3 or 4 million pounds to have an election for Manchester mayor and blocked Burnham from standing in a by election, but now it's ok? Strange that...
No doubt there'll be a note left in the treasury in 3 years time saying there's no money left in the kitty just like in 2010.....

You think that Starmer should have blocked Burnham again then?

I'm hearing that there were 250,000 marching for Palestine and against the far right, whilst little Tommy Ten Names could only muster 5,000.

Unconfirmed.

These absolute heroes were there commemorating the time five armies failed miserably to push Jews into the sea and spent the rest of time crying about it so it was at least 50.

Streeting could have announced an immediate challenge, which would have ruled out Burnham. The fact that he didn't is noble, but not great tactics for his own chances.
You think? To me, its obvious that he's playing a longer game. He is making himself look democratic but it doesn't ring true to me.

What's the choice? Block Burnham and the minority who want him in will dwindle away. Or support Burnham standing having already agreed with him that he would be part of Team Burnham in the next Cabinet. Just like Starmer under Corbyn. After all Burnham is not guaranteed to win the so-called safe seat he is to be gifted. So he may not have to wait too long.

Anyway doesn't he need to grow up first? A few less hairs , a few grey ones and some wrinkles to appear.

That looks like 80 or so and I see they all had the time and money to buy some designer Palestinian head scarves first. Purely to help the economy of course by going out and spending.

Figures supplied by Diane Abbott no doubt. Met Police estimate 20k at Palestine march and 60k at the UK march. Whatever the figures were both are a f*cking nuisance to people working in London as are all the bloody marches over several years. The cost to businesses and police costs are massive. When I worked for Addy Lee Saturday's were a nogo after 12.00 as on an almost weekly basis there were union organised marches about some gripe or other that would paralyse the traffic in Central London and that was way before BLM, Palestine or Tommy Tit...

Streeting really is a weasel, isn't he? He's deliberately put Burnham in a difficult position by declaring that he (Streeting) would seek to reverse Brexit. Burnham himself has made similar declarations in the past, but now that he's standing in a constituency that was pro-Brexit it could damage his chances in the by-election to make it a doorstep issue. Looks like Streeting might actually want Burnham to lose in Makerfield.

Surely if Burnham is going to ‘save’ the Labour Party, the country and probably the world, as he has promised, he has to be able to argue in favour of his ideas with people who might not agree? Failure to do this, caving in at the slightest opposition or expression of doubt, is one of the fundamental problems of the Starmer government. And Reform would have made this a doorstep issue anyway. But Streeting is definitely a weasel.

Meanwhile, fresh from being ‘exonerated’ - her word - on her stamp duty dodging, by paying what she owes (not really exoneration Ange, that would imply you didn’t owe anything, and legal experts are astonished you weren’t fined) - Rayner has declined to accept the role of Health Secretary. Thank goodness for that.

Well yeah, Farage and Reform should be held to account for the disaster of Brexit, but maybe this by-election isn't the time to do it. People who voted Leave are very reluctant to admit that they made a mistake and challenging them just tends to further entrench their views, as I know from personal experience. Burnham could easily lose if he were to put Europe at the centre of his campaign.

The next GE will be the time for Labour to make the case for Europe.

Khan has woken up to the fact that if West Ham are relegated the London Taxpayer will have to fork out around an extra £2.5m in payments for running costs at their ground because the contribution Spam currently make will half with relegation, so he's saying all Londoners who aren't Spurs fans should support Spam and want them to stay up.... yeah right....

Tell that to Millwall fans who are licking their lips... <laugh>

Brilliant negotiation from whichever ****ing potato in a blonde wig was London mayor at the time. They were so desperate to not have a white elephant upon the shock of realising nobody gives a **** about athletics more than once every four years they practically gave the thing away.
