I have a first grandchild pretty much ready to arrive in the next 2 weeks and have been told under no circumstances am I to be anywhere other than Southampton for the foreseeable future....

I argued that I will be of zero practical help in bringing the pending sprogling into the world. If looks could kill the one I got then would have lost me at least an arm.....
Just leave their share of the inheritance money by the bed as a deposit, to show you are a caring grandad.

Are you the birthing partner? If not it’s a bit unfair to ask you not to leave the city for half a day.

It was more a tongue in cheek commentary about not spending a few hundred when we actually need to get a fair amount of new baby stuff as the last one in the family was a decade ago as opposed to the draconian denial of travel

I think over spending and being hit with a transfer embargo sours the game and reflects badly on a club too.....
Our transfer embargo wasn't enforced for over spending, It was over a loan deal with Villa for a player, Mike Barry? who never actually played for us because of injury. City and Villa had some sort of deal with Phillogene who we signed from Villa then sold later to Ipswich with Villa getting a decent sell on fee. Seems wires were crossed with the sell on fee from Phillogene and the loan fee we paid, said to be £3m for Barry, which alerted the FA who, as usual, came down like a ton of bricks on us. Villa owe us money apparently.
I thought we'd get relegated this season with all this going on in pre season so to cobble a team together that qualified for the Play Off Final is quite remarkable. This 'investigation' and the delay and confusion it has caused has soured the occasion somewhat. The EFL haven't handled it well and I think it stinks of sour grapes from Boro. Would it have been an issue if they had won? Someone spied on another team, so what? As I said in my first post, Boro should and could have used it to their advantage. Millwall fans are now claiming that if they'd have known our formation before the 2nd leg kicked off the result might have been different. Absolute bollocks, anyone who watches football regularly could have predicted changes would be made and besides that there are enough subs sat on the bench to combat that mid game. The game is going soft, we all know that and stuff like this is another nail in the coffin for it.
Just get the game played and pressure should be on the ELF from your camp to do so,

Good post mate. Do really feel sorry you lot in all of this with all the uncertainty.

Though I'm sure your team are preparing for us while ignoring the noise and it'll definitely go ahead next Saturday.

Assuming this only gets moved if we’re not involved? I was planning to go do some long distance hiking up north for a few weeks from Sunday, but don’t want to book or plan it when there’s potential the date gets changed.

Here’s my most recent take on this absolute farce.
Tuesday comes, Saints get kicked out, Final date moved. The EFL have now boxed themselves in to a no-win corner but they think they know which decision will get them off the hook with the least pain. The process they’re putting all three team’s supporters through is a disgraceful example of total incompetence. Saints management, this side of the alleged incident has been exemplary in that they’ve kept out of the noise and heat of what is becoming the best example of intimidation on a ‘legal’ dispute I’ve seen for years. The trouble is, that in this type of scenario, ‘silence is not golden’ by today’s standards of journalism and social media warriors.
In this case then it seems we are ‘guilty’ and the onus on us is to prove innocence, which is totally against our legal processes and rights. The consequences of Gibson’s actions being successful in achieving all or most of his demands, with very little solid useful evidence, should send a massive shudder through our understanding of football’s governance.
If the EFL allow us to participate and even then if by winning we are still eliminated, the lawyers will have a field day.
I have every sympathy with those who today, like myself, are in a state of indecision as to what to do next on Monday when tickets become available to members.

Celtic beating Hearts is a handy reminder that in real life the villains usually win.

So given we are the baddies these days.....
