Gibson also seems to have a reputation for doing the right thing. Simon Jordan says he knows Gibson and thinks he'd probably immediately sack a manager who spied on opponents (for context Jordan also admitted he probably wouldn't do the same thing himself).

On Archer, he doesn't suit our playing style and hasn't featured very much so if Boro (or anyone else) offered a decent sum for him we should bite their hands off.

Did anyone else hear Adam Blackmore and Jo Tessum discuss the likely meaaures EFL are kikely to take in the builgld up to the match on Solent before the match ? They concluded that a fine amd a points deduction was most likely as EFL unlikely to have the financial resources to implement meaaures which are more controversial and likely to be oppposed legally. There was also the implication that the senior managememt was unaware of the spying but that someone in the club sanctioned it. By that i assume they mean the coaching staff.

Just to put this in context here is a comment copied from chippy saint in the Mail Online -

"Boro fans are getting all righteous and indignant about this but you only have to search the "Fly Me To The Moon" online fanzine for Boro supporters to see lots of information and advice about how fans can go and view the club's training sessions at Rockcliffe Hall by parking in the golf club carpark or walking along the public footpath adjacent to the training pitches. They even mention how sometimes the players will come over and interact with the fans, signing autographs etc and how security at the golf course will point fans in the right direction. Clearly the club is well aware that these pitches are visible to the public and have been for years. Therefore, this faux outrage over alleged spying is just trying to game the system. If they had any secrets worth keeping, why hold their training sessions somewhere they can be easily seen by passersby?"

Is this really CRIME OF THE CENTURY as the Media are trying to present it?

On the subject of "Spying", scouting or information gathering or whatever the current euphemism is in use, this is now the 21st Century, the wealthy clubs I imagine aren't using primitive agent in the bushes mode, They will be spending large sums of money using AI driven intelligence gathering, so whatever the EFL come up with it will be largely redundant. If we are guilty then we have to face the music, but the punishment needs to hurt those responsible for the issue, not the players or the supporters who are the innocent victims in the whole episode.

The other thing that hasn't been mentioned - if this goes on even a couple more days, Boro aren't going to Wembley. Hull would be well within their rights to say "well we've been preparing for Southampton, so it gives them an unfair advantage". So that ain't happening.

Oh **** off you absolute melt.

Isn’t that being ratioed? The number of comments aren’t much different from the number of likes. Also 110 likes for 31k views is very low

That has been mentioned by the Boro fans last night on their forum. It’s in part of their attempt to get on their high horse and make it seem like they are out for more than just being given a free pass to the final

It was obvious they didn’t think they could win with all the hysteria being whipped up. And that got proven correct

Whilst this makes sense Boro fans will argue they can oppose a more lenient punishment legally. Sort of if we can threaten to sue why can’t they. Repeating a point but I think they then end up in a sticky situation where they basically screaming to be rewarded rather than us punished. And that’s not how it works and never has been

When West Ham were found to have cheated with Tevez and Mascherano Sheffield United only got anything because they directly sued West Ham and had to settle out of court - presumably for a lot less than they wanted. I don’t think they were awarded anything by the authorities

Same as the teams who have financially cheated. Their trophies haven’t been awarded to clubs that didn’t cheat.

Boro fans won't go after the EFL for cash, bet they will us though.

Whereas if the EFL kick us out of the playoffs then we very much could go after the EFL for cash. And even if they think they can justify and fight it - will they want to?

Apparently “Gibbo” will have been in a war room all night and they assume he’ll make some kind of statement first thing this morning. Is this all based on one incident mentioned above with Derby?

We're not getting kicked out of the play offs.

This bloke for a so called professional journalist is embarrassing and part of the reason why I’m taking a break from social media for a few days.
Saw a lot of real common sense Boro fans last night saying we were the better team with stronger bench etc, and that they wouldn’t want to get a pity place in the final, sadly that was dwarfed by the bait driving, deluded mob, driven by media which in my opinion made the game last night, pre and during, quite venomous.
I’ve also decided that I need to move to Teeside as the people there are Holier than thou.
Oh well, tickets on sale tomorrow.

Agree for two reasons (assuming we are guilty of spying). Punishment would exceed the crime…not like we nobbled their players. And too close to final…tickets on sale soon…if we drag out this independent enquiry and appeal (if we don’t like result) we could already be an EPL side.

Didn’t you hear? Boro fans think we should be punished harshly with no right of appeal since we are “guilty” already
