I am currently driving around in a company provided lease car.

I have been made a job offer, compared to my current place it is more money and better development prospects to open up more money in the future.

They provide a car allowance of £4.5k a year £375 a month. I will need to get a new car and was thinking a lease over buying something. Part of the reason is the current company car is a Rav 4 which is automatic with adaptive cruise control and I've gotten used to the little luxuries it has.

Is there anyone leasing cards either through similar situations or completely from your own pocket? Who is decent or is it a case of shop around? I reckon I would need minimum 10k miles annually maybe 12k as I will travel to different job sites everyday.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

P.S I would consider buying a car but as I would want something with the modern luxuries it would be a lot more expensive per month! While I understand the logic of cheaper runner etc.. I do a lot of miles and might aswell do it in comfort!

Never leased a car before, but I’m definitely considering it as my last two cars have been on PCP although I’ve never took the offer at the end to purchase them so in essence I’ve been leasing, some great deals online for leasing cars especially on the lease loco site, but it’s taking the jump in getting a car without face to face conversation

I was chatting about leasing with my mate yesterday and he was telling me about Octopus Power who lease EV's. Your post reminded me and I have just had a look at their website. As far as I can tell, it looks like they have some decent deals including discounted or free chargers and an free 8000 mile allowance.

I've been looking at leaseloco and its got some good deals especially if looking at those lesser known makes.

I think I'd find what I want and go somewhere for a test drive before commiting.

I hadn't looked at electric because I do some decent mileage at the minute but it shouldn't be as much with the new job. And the free charger etc.. ads a new angle to it so I'll have a look at this. Cheers.

Private leasing is only worth it if you have some business income to offset the cost... thereby saving tax.

With the car allowance I will be getting I can get a decent lease car but never own it or own a car thats either lower spec or much older and would pontentially incur other costs repairs etc...

I know I could own a car for the money but the car won't be that good (my finances wouldn't stretch to anything that nice) and if I need to drive a hour plus regularly for work then I might aswell do it in a nice new comfortable car.

I`m not sure whether the new employer does this (if you ask they can only say "NO"). There are loads of schemes now where you effectively do a salary sacrifice and lease the car that way - so rather than the company paying you the £4.5k you sacrifice that, don`t pay income tax on the cash, the employer doesn`t pay employers NICs on the £4.5k either (so makes a saving which some pass on to employees...).

We do that at my place - because we`re caring types! [and it saves us some £]. We use Tusker as the provider - worth looking at
