Seems fair enough to me. After all, he's been nothing but a pain in the arse to so many others - it's about time he got a taste of his own medicine.

In Spain that wouldn't be called racist.

It's not exactly a compliment, either, is it Pat? As somebody wrote earlier, it may be the epithet that was allegedly added, that made it offensive.

Yes,it just depends how it's used.It can actually be a compliment or used in the wrong way racist(usually with an expletive involved). As has been said he should have known better after playing in Holland for years.

    Don't be silly, Lidls.
Sledging's a standard part of the game.
The racism's the problem, not the attempt to wind him up.

It looks like they really can't except that he's been found guilty and are now up to their necks in s****.I suspect they're hoping it will get overturned in appeal. If it doesn't it will be interesting to see the stance Liverpool and KD take.

In my younger years, I made someone crack me over the knuckles with a steel rule by calling him Sunny-Jim over and over and over.

Is Sunny-Jim offensive? His real name was James.

I was basically calling him a stupid and saying my place on the ladder was above him. We both knew it. It was enough to cause violence.

The actual words said are not so important. It's the meaning behind them.

I agree with that Lidls, but not your assertion that it's wrong to address another player by anything other than his name.

You probably did it because you knew it would upset him. It also varies from place to place. For instance, if you call somebody "Pal" in many parts of the North. it can be viewed as aggressive, and can cause trouble.

I think they'll make an exception for Terry, though.

Anyone see the quote from Diego Lugano regarding Suarez: "Luis is a victim. I can't understand how a player like Evra can do this. He is breaking the codes of football."

It's hard not to read that as him saying Evra should've kept schtum regardless of what Suarez called him.

This is no Barton comparison for a bit of GBH, I can assure you if he was sent down, ( sadly just a fine!) half the community inside, of the skin colour he's derided, will want to give him a slap...at the least! <whistle>

Latest news from my mate ITK: John Terry has sworn to clear his name. In fact, reportedly his actual words were 'i'm gonna f*cking clear my name'. He added 'I gonna prove I'm not racist, I'm gonna sh*g all of my black team mates wives and girl friends this side of the new year!

Terry then went on to say 'None of my family are racist, my mum shoplifts from as many black shopkeepers as white ones and my dad sell as much coke to blacks as he does whites'.

Further reports have Terry saying that he hopes to captain England against those 'pot smoking orange cloggie b'stards' in February and is looking forward to stuffing the 'sub human former commie w*nkers' at Euro 2012......watch this space.....

Typically, the Liverpool defence is Suarez (and indeed Chelsea's of Terry) involves repeating the manta of "I am not/He is not a racist", as if that somehow means the racist abuse he dished out to a fellow professional isn't as bad as if it were dished out by, say, the two blokes in the dock for the murder of Steven Lawrence.

Liverpool warming up for their match with Wigan in Suarez t-shirts, following on from the earlier tantrum masquerading as a club statement that could see Evra sue them for defamation of character, shows how low-rent and odious the Scousers truly are.

I'm quite surprised at Liverpool's reaction, to be honest.
They're acting as if there's been some massive miscarriage of justice, when they'd probably be better off playing the clash of cultures angle.
Nobody's denying what Suarez said, so admitting to a mistake, apologising and appealing against the length of the ban would be better, surely?
