That’s a bummer. Surprised he wouldn’t fancy another European league before going Saudi.
Silly money for one last contract.
Can’t blame players really. Sets up their kids and grandkids etc

I get it for someone like Graziano Pelle, who traded his Southampton wages for what the Chinese Super League offered as he'd have been stupid not to try and cash in when somebody was offering something like 6-8 times what Southampton were paying him, but players headed to The Oilfields just looks like greed given many of them wee already on six figure contracts
There's also the PIF cutting back on projects left and right, so you have to wonder how long the gravy train will continue
De Zerbi’s said he wants to sign Palhinha permanently.
There were articles 3-4 months ago about how he'll have nowhere to go in the summer if we don't take up the option...somehow forgetting he will have somewhere to go: BayernWe're apparently baulking at the £25m price tag.
Stood next to how much we spent on Gallagher, Gray and Ndombele, that's bargain of the century.

As Spurs should be.
He’s not bad but very limited on the ball and the wrong side of 30.
Smart to negotiate a lower fee
Oh c'mon, King! What the **** do you think you get for £25m these days? He's an absolute bargain and there's no benefit in publicly negotiating a couple of mill off his price at the risk of pissing him off.As Spurs should be.

He's no Iniesta for sure, but as a hard tackling DM he's still one of the best in the PL and still has potentially 3 more seasons in him.. He also displays the exact on and off pitch commitment and attitude that the club needs and has been sadly lacking.
If the previous two coaches had deployed him correctly, then I wager we wouldn't now be biting our fingernails to the quick every week...![]()

Nah I think he’s more than good enough for Europe. Bayern paid £50m for him just under two years ago. Even if he’s not ended up being good enough to start for them he’s comfortably good enough for a lot of other clubs, 99% of DMs ain’t starting over Kimmich too. £25m is a steal in this market I reckon, players far worse than him going for like £15m+ more. He guarantees about 2-3 years of consistent performances and protection of the back line, we’d probably already be dead and buried if it weren’t for him this season. You have to negotiate. Especially when there isn’t any competition for his signature and he’s got no place in Bayern’s future.
Also depends what Spurs are planning to do next season if they stay up. For a battle against relegation then yeah he’s ideal.
If you wanna aim to get back into Europe then I’m not so sure if he’s good enough.
Is now a bad time to mention that, if we are quibbling over the fee, that's yet another example of something Levy habitually got blamed for yet continued after he left?I’m in agreement guys. £25m for Palhinha is definitely worth it. He’s an aggressive tackler that rarely puts a foot wrong. There aren’t many of those around these days.
And quibbling over the fee is something Spurs have good wrong on many occasions in the past. Just pay the reasonable fee.

But surely Spurs already negotiated the fee before signing the loan agreement which set out the amount it would cost to buy him?Every club negotiates fees. It’s silly to pay the fee without seeing if you can get it lowed. Especially when there is no competition for his signature and his parent club clearly don’t want him.
There is an option to buy him at a particular fee. If we don't exercise it then we can offer any smaller amount we like but Bayern don't have to accept. The option simply caps the fee, it doesn't stop us hagglingBut surely Spurs already negotiated the fee before signing the loan agreement which set out the amount it would cost to buy him?
Just a reminder, nobody was saying "Every club negotiates fees" a couple of years ago when we negotiated Juve down to make Deki's loan permanentEvery club negotiates fees. I understand that but I am curious as to whether clubs negotiate the option to buy fee at the outset? If they don’t, then I understand the need to barter at the end stage. There is an option to buy him at a particular fee. It's usually the club loaning the player out doing that, so that if the player they loan does well there's potentially going to be a bidding war since multiple clubs know the feeI understand that but I am curious as to whether clubs negotiate the option to buy fee at the outset?
