Old school? O used to watch players get grabbed in the balls, kicked, punched and loads more back in the “old school days”. A shirt pull was never a foul then!

I get that it is now, when the refs decide to enforce it (Brian Brobbey a prime example of when they don’t in most cases), which is why so many players do it, as refs often ignore it
I'm from Consett and I remember playing an attacking role at a junior match at Chopwell, when their centre half bundled into me,grabbed my shirt and cleared the ball upfield...... and then told me if I tried to go past him again he'd break my leg! And,I had long hair......60's.....let's go!
By the way,we won!

Sounds like a right twat. I understand there can be over excessive criticism after a loss as its something we as fans are passionate about.

Most fans gave the players and manager a pass from March onwards last season based off what happened in the playoffs and with hindsight we were correct.

There are a certain segment of fans who are just negative whatever. We've had an unbelievable season when you put it into context with promoted sides over the last 3 years.

Yeah we had a sniff of Europe for a while and it is frustrating to see that drift over the last couple of games (purely as lost of us have never seen this in our lives) but that doesn't mean RLB should be in any risk. Whatever happens now we have overachieved this season you can't sack a manager because he doesn't produce the miracle that we had threatened to achieve.

All this said I do believe the current ownership are ruthless and ambitious. If we start poorly next season I think it could happen in a victim of your own success kind of way.
As a lad he's actually alright and on other stuff generally fine. Life long lads fan, travelled all over the country when he was younger, plenty of great stories about matches from then. He's just negative about us now and has been for a good couple of years. To be fair it's not just us he's negative about, he's also negative about England. Personally I just ignore most of what he says now but he's an example that there's plenty out there and not all are trolls or mags on a wind up.

Well,he's not alone in being negative about England.! International football is a dogshit lottery. Not the first time the FA have awarded a longer term contract, not won anything, going into a tournament,to protect him being courted with a club side elsewhere hoping to secure his focus.

I remember the times when any contact except shoulder to shoulder was judged a foul. No pushing, pulling or wrestling with arms.

Let’s enjoy the last three games, and crack on with an important summer. Shame losing Ballard for it bit gives someone else a shot. Imagine thinking we’d be dissapointed missing out on Europe when we left Wembley last year <laugh>
Yep,agree it's just about having fun. Let's go into these last three matches, attack, attack and attack....show our skills......let's entertain,we having very little to lose!

Bollox! If you were a footballer, you would not have been a very good one, if in the heat of game you would be looking where to put your hands instead of fighting for the ball. Oooh matron, should I hold him round the waist, or link arms with him? Wuss!
Embarrassing post. Lost the argument so try and be insulting instead then throw in some off brand 70s reference about homosexuality. Weird

Oh yeah, but that’s not to say they were all given. And there were some nasty tackles back in the day. We’d have been down to 9 men if the 73 cup final was by today’s standards!!
I think it was Michael Oliver who re-refereed the 1970 FA cup Final and he would have sent off 11 players by today’s standards <laugh>

If that's the one between Chelsea and Leeds I'd agree with him! I've only seen replays of it as it was before I was born, but bloody hell it was excessive even in those days. Body checks, hacks, head high challenges...you'd have been lucky to make it to half time with the game being called off due to not enough players if it was refereed today!

Taken from X. Sunderland fan who wrote it but you have to agree with him if correct.

The officiating & VAR of Wolves v Sunderland game was strange Saturday 3 crucial VAR interventions all sided with home team and equally strange was that both teams committed 11 fouls yet one team racked up 4 yellows & 1 red whilst other team got none

I said during the match, the ref seemed to have an attitude of feeling sorry for the relegated side!

Not sure that says anything - not all fouls lead to cards

It was so embarrassing, that you gave it a like. Then your guilty conscience decided there was a homosexual content in there! Give your head a shake!
