Through my line of work I have been lucky enough to examine many ancient books and manuscripts across the UK, wider Europe and Asia.

There is nothing more satisfying than turning a page knowing there will be exquisite beauty and skill to behold. Touching Magna Carta, albeit in gloves, was electrifying.

A lovely thread, Lardi.

I have one of these from my time working for Amdahl.

I was surprised to find that it still worth about £1.5k. It was revolutionary in its day and changed how mainframe computers were built. In 1979 one of these was cost about £25k. There were 60 of them in 470 computer along with lots of other logic.

They were made my a joint Amdahl and Fujitsu company called FACOM. They were transported in special carriers with Facom on the outside. I remember one meeting at the CEGB where the manager had seen one and asked why the carrier had the word F**kem on it.
