the first test between india and south africa in kolkata that started on the 14th (nov) and finished on the 16th went as follows:

south africa 1st inns 159 (markram 13, bumrah 5/27)

india 1st inns 189 (rahul 39, harmer 4/30)

sa 2nd 153 (bavuma 55no, jadeja 4/50)

ind 2nd 93 (sundar 31, harmer 4/21)

south africa won by 30 runs

what was unusual:
all 40 wickets fell without either team reaching 200.

this is only the twelfth time this has happened in test cricket

it is the first occurrence since march 1959

it happened four times in the 1950s but only five times in the 20th century. the other was in 1907

it happened once in the 1890s and five times in the 1880s..

Frustrating start to the ccc season, up against relegation candidates we've been outplayed in large parts Vs Glamorgan and watching this last 30 mins has been v disappointing, no attempt to go for the in at 7.5 rpo just batting it out. The mental fragility in this batting line up is massive.

Bit harsh really when they can stick everyone on the boundary. If Lyth stayed in we had a chance. Must have been spinning if Crane took 8 wickets or so and Bess bowled nearly 40 overs in the 2nd innings.

They had 6 or 7 round the bat at this point, obv pushing for the win, our batting line up is just so sodding fragile mentally that once Lyth went their collective arses fell out. A good team would have gone for that and most likely have got there yesterday..... we're not a good team sadly

win toss....bowl....at home.....oppo 400/6 before lunch on day 2. Absolute joke of a team are yorkshire
to be fair
- yorkshire did get a first innings lead 511-502
- the 7 games that were going on included three where both teams passed 400 and two more where one team did. batting weather all over. none of the four division one games had 30 wickets.

What a dismal performance again from Yorks, feels like the Somerset game was an aberration rather than the start of a recovery, had such high hopes at the end of day one as well, again tho we're getting beaten by teams with players we've discarded in the past, really makes you question who and why some decisions are being made

When you look back since 1970 YCCC have not won much at all
