If that happens then we didn't score enough. We could always have scored more and that is in our hands. Knowledge of what Wrexham do or when they do it is irrelevant.

At least we agree on that. But to have it in our hands means no one else can impact us so long as we win. The notion of the number of goals we score being in our hands is reliant on the number of goals Wrexham score. As I've said a few times now, it's all semantics for the sake of - what, some sort of psychological edge?

We haven't been good enough the last 6 weeks when it WAS in our hands, and we're now relying on other teams helping us across the line. We need to win our game and hope it falls in our favour.

We need that referee from Hearts the other day in 2 different games, to send off Wrexham & Norwich players!
I dont think having players sent off against us has ususally helped BB. The ref in the Southampton game last night was exceptional. From early on he let stuff go so there wasn't the usual triple rolls when people were touched...

Plenty of debate on Millar vs Joseph, and I can understand (to an extent) the manager's position. We complain about Millar's final ball, but Joseph's is no better. Stats on assists per 90 have Millar (.25) slightly ahead of Joseph (.22). Worth pointing out that they are both beaten by Akintola (.36) who even beats Giles. The other thing that might weigh on his decision is that Joseph will far more often cough up possession by messing up a simple pass. However, I still think it's the wrong decision and Joseph should start. Firstly because he's more of a goal threat (if you add goals to assists and compare goal involvements per 90 Joseph is well ahead (.51) of Millar (.41)). But secondly, and this seems like a clinching argument, we are usually (not always) just better with Joseph in the team. Having said all that, I expect the team on Saturday will be the same except for Slater for Matazo. Would be nice if it was also McNair for Coyle and Hughes for Ajayi but unlikely.

It's an exercise in intellectual gymnastics, I think Ernie must be a bit bored at the minute :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Fun though, but too hard for me :emoticon-0100-smile

I would 100% drop Coyle if it wasn’t a final day showdown. This exactly the time your captain needs to put his big boy pants on, step up and lead by example. Expecting a proper captains performance from him to make up for the last 2 games.

Is it really Millar vs Joseph? why can't we have both starting and drop someone else?

So we go into added time knowing one more goal puts us ahead of Wrexham, we score, pandemonium. Word filters through Wrexham have also scored. How have we been able to control that?

I also don't know why people get so hung up on this. Is it the ignominy of getting the play offs because another side was worse than us? Ever since Baz used that phrasing last week ahead of Charlton people have been at pains to insist it's in our hands. It's not. But who cares? We just have to win and hope it falls our way. Getting too hung up on what Wrexham do will just see us draw or lose because we're too distracted.

We lost against Man Utd but stayed up in 2009 because Newcastle were worse than us. If we'd won, they couldn't have stayed up - that was in our hands. We didn't win but we still stayed up. Does that make that achievement any less special?

I don't really give a ****e either way to be honest - but couldn't you flip this?

Wrexham are winning 2-1, we are winning 2-0. They score, pandemonium, 3-1! Wait, we score - 3-0. They also can't control that.

Either way, in all likelihood if we get a healthy win we make it. It might not technically be in our hands but by balance of footballing probability it is.

Would like McBurnie to be captain for these reasons.

I do wish people wouldn't put so much emphasis on statistics. In football, or any team sport for that matter, so much depends on who else is in the team, for instance how does Millars percentage ebb and flow when Giles is in or out of the team or McBurnie's when Joseph is ? People use statistics on forums like this and managers/backroom staff do it when picking teams. Does it work ? I'm really not convinced.
Remember, you can prove anything with statistics. 20% of all road accidents are caused by drunk drivers, therefore 80% are caused by sober drivers. On that logic the roads would be safer if we all have a few pints before we get behind the wheel. Rubbish I know but you hopefully get my drift.
